    So, what's too heavy?

Sometimes the weight of your handgun can prove to be your friend Especially at the moment that you tighten up your finger on the trigger

Thanks, woodnbow, until your observation, I hadn't realised that Herrett's grips were sold under the Shooting Star's label! I do try to shape a little lumber now and then.

The real joy of the break-actions are the 'pistols that use rifle ammunition' 6x45 7-30 Waters

    Contender Carbine in 30-30

That choate extension welded on the super 14 barrels renders it ATF compliant (exceeding 16") The late, great David White used to attach a 'maximizer' for me Sometimes, ya just gotta hang on!

    Contender Carbine in 30-30

My forearm is factory TC, I only whittled that maple stock! The Super Bower actually is as manageable as a 7-30 Waters, the Ackley walls of the 307 really reduce the breech thrust.

    Custom built T/C Encore

David was one in a million. He will be sorely missed. His work expanded my collection more than any other gunsmith. I am lucky to hold the pieces that he modified. He worked a lot with Bellm, who learned from Parker Otto Ackley, and their knowledge and cartridge designs will serve custom...
