    Springfield armory, from the CEO

To those that are comparing SAI to Ruger or S&W... Bill Ruger is dead. The products that he said shouldn't be available to the masses are being produced by new leadership. The old S&W leadership is dead, replaced by new owners that did not get in bed with the government. SAI is still the same...

    5.56 vs .223 Rem.

That is not correct. M1 ball, circa 1926, was a 172 grain boat tail projectile at 2700 FPS. M2 ball, a 150 grain flat base projectile at 2800 FPS, was down-loaded in 1938 to prevent overshooting the impact area of National Guard ranges. The M1 can work with M1 ball pressures.

    Gun grease...

The Swiss Military used waffenfett for cleaning metal, wood and leather up until the 1950s, when it was replaced by automatenfett ("grease for automatic").

    Gun grease...

Who's "we"? The Swiss have been cleaning their rifles -- metal, wood, and leather -- with waffenfett for nearly forever.

    Legal bullets

I know that the OP is in Texas, but perhaps this is not a good test. The sale and use of lead fishing tackle is illegal in several states (such as New York, New Hampshire and Maine) due to migratory bird concerns.

Travel to/through MA with Garand rifle?

I have shipped my long arms, to and from vacation locations using USPS, "in care of" a number of times. I have used registered mail, but you are not required to do so. The employees have sometimes questioned "Is this allowed?" but having the relevant rules printed out satisfied them. [I have...

Garand en bloc clip life expectation?

Yes with an if, no with a but... This is not my image, but it shows the problem with not matching your clips to your ammo's extractor groove (.308 / NATO being larger):

Garand en bloc clip life expectation?

Whatever vendor you go with, verify that they work with the ammunition that you'll be using. WWII clips generally work with everything. [Older] AEC 3 / CMP clips have been known to not work with PPU .30-06 / post-72 HXP / NATO extractor groove sized ammunition.

    Vermont is going Down

Explain "the worst" and "long before"; half of New England has Constitutional Carry. If you had instead said Southern New England (Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts) from 1993 onwards, then I would tend to agree, but things didn't get bad until SB1160 was passed in Connecticut in...

5.56 and 223rem on the same box?

That is not entirely correct. M1 ball, circa 1926, was a 172 grain boat tail projectile at 2700 FPS. In 1938 M2 ball, a 150 grain flat base projectile at 2800 FPS that roughly approximated the original 1906 loading, replaced it. This was due to M1's excessive range, and its overshooting the...

UPS Left my gun on the doorstep- no signature!

Call the 1-800 line, file a complaint, and ask to have the local depot supervisor call you back. It's the only way that this will get fixed. (In my case, it took seven complaints -- and ignoring their helpful suggestions that I "should have the packages shipped to a different address" or "call...

National Ordnance receivers are not bad; they were thoroughly tested by H.P. White Laboratory and found to be stronger than USGI receivers (see "The Springfield 1903 Rifles" by Colonel William S. Brophy), and the rifles are worth the sum of their parts.
