You want to clean and polish that bore shoot 50 or so paper patched lead bullets through it. If it is real bad a little 600 grit lapping on the first 3 or bullets will save time.
Ammunition has a shelf life. If not used, it is going to go bad in the case and cause Kabooms if it is not demilled before that happens. WW1 ammunition was fourteen years old in 1932 and was not getting any younger.

If you do get into casting, you might want to consider paper patching your cast bullets for rifle shooting. With paper you can have the same accuracy and velocity as jacketed at a fraction of the cost.
My 4" blue Python (1961 vintage) has many thousand full power rounds through it and it is still tighter than any new S&W I have ever owned. I woldn't trade it for ANY other revolver.
