I have a Winchester Model 70 in .270 Win. absolutely love the .270 Win. cartridge great all around choice. As for what to get Savage makes a great rifle I am still on the fence when it comes to Remington products...always have, so I say go with the Savage.

Good choice for .9X19mm. :) Another great choice for .45 ACP would be the Stainless Steel "Brushed finished" Colt XSE Model. My father bought one a few years back and has been a great pistol, and I believe he got it for under $1k.
