    Pick your all round pistol!

a four inch 357 is a tough player to beat for '1 handgun'. however, since we are in autoloaders, A decent 1911 with a 460 rowland kit can do most anything you ask of a handgun at 50 yards or less.

    Browning Hi Power..

I just picked up a MkII made in 85 from Cole's. They have since pulled their GB ads for reasons that are unknown to me, but internet lore says Mr Cole had some health issues and keeping up with the recent craze has been beyond their capabilities (again, internet rumor, so take it for what it is...

Wanting a 22lr, torn on options and in need of opinions

22lr is something I thankfully set back in decent supply. Have about 20 bricks for consumption and another 10 in the rainy day ammo can. for every two bricks I shoot, I try to buy three. I don't make a ton of money or I'd try to go one for one, but over the last 5 or 6 years, I've been able to...

Wanting a 22lr, torn on options and in need of opinions

btg3- I live in NY, so using a magazine loader like that could easily put me past 7 rounds quickly whilst in the field and not at an 'incorporated range'. Not to get legal in this thread, but for right now a revolver is a mighty tempting option to those of us in NYS, so much so that I suspect my...

Wanting a 22lr, torn on options and in need of opinions

All~ I am in the market for a new 22lr revolver. I am torn on a number of features, and would like to put it to the 'the road for some advice. I want this 22 for plinking and small game hunting, but wouldn't mind terribly if I could drop it in a jacket pocket either. The small game hunting...

NY Gun Owners Threatening Non-Compliance With New Gun Control Laws

we are trying to vote out our legislators who put this on us. We haven't even been successful in getting competent people on the ballot to run against them. Its not as simple as 'voting for the other guy/gal'. we are having to foster candidates from scratch. Don't forget we had a number of...

NY Gun Owners Threatening Non-Compliance With New Gun Control Laws

I agree civil disobedience is crucial but I am trying to consider all ways information will be leveraged against us

NY Gun Owners Threatening Non-Compliance With New Gun Control Laws

I will say this- it was freezing at the Buffalo rally last week- but we were there in force. Here's hoping we can beat this.

NY Gun Owners Threatening Non-Compliance With New Gun Control Laws

I am sad to see so much talk on all gun boards to the effect of "well thats NY's problem, they voted them in, they can deal with it". I assure you, any state in the Union with a large city or a growing city population can and will have the same problems we are having here. 80+ percent of the...

NYSRPA to challenge the new NY gun law

fear the high courts will only hear so many cases, and may take a case with worse facts that damages the chances of getting the laws overturned? Frankly, I think we are on a 3-5 year time frame. I don't see a NYS court overturning this, and I fear we have to hope for SCOTUS to step in.

Appendix Carrying a Striker fired pistol !!

I should point out- I don't holster my gun after I put the holster on- I put a holster on which already contains a gun. Greatly lowers the chance of me engaging the trigger.

    Ever successfully persuaded an anti?

Several. My best luck was with who are willing to reason through anti-gun arguments. Take them shooting and be a good example for our sport. I work very hard, (and am constantly working hard) to be the best example I can for safe gun handling, reasonable debate, and to generally be a model gun...

    Wilderness survival rifle thoughts?

by me in upstate ny, not much that can't be done with a nice 12 gauge. That being said, I'd rather pack a handgun. just easier in my experience. as the poster specified rifle though- I would look at the CZ bolt gun in 7.62x39. handy, accurate, and a solid medium power cartridge that is much...

Appendix Carrying a Striker fired pistol !!

I am a big appendix carry fan- I don't carry glocks often, but that is because I just dislike them - not because I think there is an inherent risk to carrying them in that position. In my opinion, I'm not really sure what dangers exist so long as safe gun handling is observed and an adequate...
