    New To Glocks

I guess I have the ONLY Glock in the world that shoots 230 LRN bullets and after 1500 rounds has not had any problems. That would be my Nov 1997 G30. It also does very well with the FAC 400 Corbon bbl, although it shoots about 7 inches low at 25 yds with that bbl ( 155 JHP @ 1375 fps)...

    Indicators of excessive press wear

When my original RCBS (circa 1972) Rock Chucker developed about .020" lateral play RCBS replaced it with a new one after I sent them the old one. It is still going strong, but then I don't swage everything from 9mm bullets to 20 gauge slugs with it like I did the old one.

    New 10mm Maker

Ron Reed I have chatted with Ron at the range and he has an interesting project in the works that, if successful, will have me buying a new gun. I don't know if he wants it discussed yet so I won't say what it is.

Why do manuals disagree so badly?

I have used manuals several times in the last ten years, just to get a sense of where some fast pistol powder loads for cast loads would put my velocities. They have a layer of dust on them now. I have not used them for anything else as they don't list the powders I use. They are...

    EAA Witness failures

I have had two slides (45 ACP Standard) crack at the rear of the ejection port on the thin part. I have had one frame crack from the safety pin hole back along the slide rail cut to the rear of the frame. The gun I have now started life as a 38 Super Frame and it has a Target model...

    Ruger handguns - military contract?

The Federal Bureau of Prisons uses the KP89DAO. A brick comparted to my 95s and yet I was able to outshoot everyone else at our institution during Annual Refresher Training last October. Rumor has it that we will be going to the Beretta in a few years. Our Captain managed to fumble his draw...

    Post tumble case clean-up.

My son and I use a system I thought up. We buy our laundry detergent in five gallon plastic buckets. I drilled 5/16" holes all over the bottom of one bucket. It is placed inside one without holes. The cases and media are poured into the top bucket and then the top bucket, while still mostly...

    Anyone have a 9mm Corbon-like Load?

My 125 gr JHP load clocks 1350fps out of my Ruger KP95s. Over the years I have sent about 3000 of them down range. But, there are those here who would still question its safety. That's what makes a horse race. I use Federal cases, CCI 400 primers, just about any 125 gr JHP (primarily...

    Total copper bullets?

FITH, The BATF left an out in that, if the bullet is "made" for an allowed purpose, "hunting, target shooting, etc.", they can be made and used by the general public. This is how Barnes gets away with making solid copper alloy bullets for handguns; they are for hunting big game...

Ok, I am ticked off at CCI and RCBS BOTH!

That system always seemed like a solution in search of a problem. Much like putting a safety on a Glock.

    Ugh, 40 S&W bulge...

S&B brass. HSMITH, You will find that the current S&B 40S&W and 357SIG cases are much improved over that of a year or so ago. I have NO problems using the once fired brass off the range these days.

    Magnum/small rifle primers in 9mm?

I use WSPM primers in all of my loads except for the "hot" ones in which I use CCI 400s. The CCIs are to reduce flow from the high pressure loads. I use WLP in all the LP primer rounds.

    P95 Holster?

IWB holster. I suggest you get a Don Hume PCCH. I have four. One for the KP95s, one for the KP97, one for the G32 and one for the G30. It is the cat's meow. And costs less than $40. http://www.donhume.com/

Police Officer Dies While Cleaning Gun

Reminds me of a number of years ago when a "gunsmith" was shot in the head and died while "cleaning" a 1911. Yeah, sure you're right! This was in Norman, OK. This would be akin to a racecar driver failing to negotiate a curve on a Interstate highway while driving the speed limit. It...

    IPSC Gun Belt

DDGator, Thanks. I will double check at the OK State Championship this Sat. My first IPSC Championship match. The eldest son won his class/division last year here. He is, sadly, sandbagging and I will shoot against him this week. Oh well.

Did I miss something? I thought that the belt had to be held by at least three loops on your pants/shorts.

Firefighter's firing over racial insult is upheld

A rose by any other name. The trouble people have with these types of words is that, for some, it strikes too close to home. Is it a derogatory descriptive word? Yes. Does that make it incorrect to use it? Not when it is used in the proper circumstances. Too many people use it to...

    truncated cone bevel base

It is a very good design for general pistol shooting. In most cases it feeds as well round nosed bullets and the flat nose delivers good transfer to steel targets. In addition, the bevel base allows a good start in the seating process and, since the bore/bullet interface is not the bottom of...
