    RIP bikerdoc

Ok, this one just sucks the life out of whats left of 2021. Doc and I talked a ton off page- we had a lot of similar interests and issues, and this one just blows me away. A dedicated patriot with the bona fides to prove it, a solid paramed in civvy life, wrangled the iron hourse like a rodeo...

    use caution priming 10mm brass

Both the CCI/Federal lines standarized to SPP "nt" to prevent inadvertent placement of heavy metal primers in NT loads Its a mechanical failsafe for the humes running the stacks. Can you tell an NT primer from a toxic one? Neither can the chutes. But this prevents that problem. Believe it...

    Hard times 223

Fair. All my rounds work pretty good in all rifles. I long ago gave up making heatseekers, and spent my time and dough on training. I think thats what is being looked for here advice wise, or did i miss sumtin? Op seems to indicate multiple carbines: this is not a one off reloading project...

    Hard times 223

Until its dark? I mean, thats the thing about standardization... how many specialized .223's do you need... and how much better are they mated with say, hornady precison ammo? Answer to both is likely not many. If you have a buncho .233/5.56 rifles, id advise you just find a good cross...

    Hard times 223

Grab a handful and pray? This is why i standardized on the .223 Reliable dependable ammo across all platforms is the standard. Thats what i want. Specialized loads per rifle are good, but i only have one rifle good enough to make a difference past 3"... and i know how to shoot.

I read that again: in cold conditions, my apologies

    Ever see anything like this?

It did me too Try it at 4.2 for cold weather proximation. This is a guess, but as close to a cold weather downgrade as I can imagine. The ex was fanatical about 1911 FMJ function.

    Ever see anything like this?

Ya, just load em to ball spec: 230 fmj, 5.5 grs of unique or equivalent. Honestly: this is standard military "ball" 45acpFMJ- ive loaded and shot thousands of rounds of it. Work your load up using whatever powder you have on hand in magazine increments(7-10rds per charge) Fire, check for...

    Ever see anything like this?

My ex wife hit me in the head with a 45acp 230 FMJ ricochet. Velocity matters, especially above 150 grains. Big round bullets will bounce. Not over 900 fps they wont. #guaranteed

    Ever see anything like this?

Cold loads at low charges. Up your settings a bit: most commercial powders have a select operating temperature, and while it may be ACCURATE at that load, it damn sure aint working. Honestly: your bases arent even obturated. This is a "weak" load. It gets colder, youll get a squib. Long...

    Hard times 223

You want power, or accuracy? You can get 3300 fps, but usually itll be all over the place (4") My experince on autoloaders on that bullet has been thst if you pull it under 2600, fails to cycle. The rest is up to you. They have different responses in reloaded cases. High volume projectiles...

    How to make primers?

That may be true, but i think some of the more seasoned folks read it for what it was. Without an FFL and a federal explosives license, you cant fix this problem. You certainly cant fix it in your garage. Thats it!

    How to make primers?

The retail sale price from manufacturer to wholesaler is less than than 1c per primer You buy their overrruns, albeit gold metal match, and a few others. If they are putting em in ammo at 30c a cartridge: you arent getting them. Anyone notice the sudden absence of availabity of Tula? Wonder...

Priming a case without a priming tool...

Chopstick and a stop block. Bore out the case hole through a piece of 2" lumber, and have a flat sanded piece aside. Set the boxer primer between the two pieces of material and casing, and use a broad head chopstick for pistol primers, and a .24 dowel for rifle. One good whack flat, and as...

First time for 200gr SWC in 45 ACP, which powders to try first?

Did a ton of 200SWC for 45 acp Honestly, for obturation and heat i liked Unigue. It worked great from rock islands, to the ex-ms.' Kimbers universally. You need obturation that is sufficient for the lands and grooves and your barrel, but Unique is a great start.

    How to make primers?

Oh boy No, you dont need stamping machinery for survival level primers: you need a .223 lee load all or similar press, and a reactive compound that is sensitive to brass on brass friction when repressed with a new anvil and flattened reused cup I can tell ya this: you are cruisin for a...
