An update from a question I posed at the beginning of winter. I opted for a red dot optic. Got it mounted yesterday and will do a range day today. Had some medical issues that pushed the project backwards. Ended up with a Crimson Trace and removed the riser. Bright, good site picture and...
Uncle Mikes pocket holster, size 3. Used one for better part of 20 years now. Starting to show its wear though. Specifically, a 340PD. Works fantastic.
Rarely, if ever leave home without a firearm. I don’t think I would be able to live with myself if something were to occur and I didn’t have the means to protect myself or my family. I pray that I am never put in that situation.
Greetings! I got a smoking hot deal on a Ruger 10/22 stainless steel, new in the box. I would like to put a low powered variable optic on it. My go to scope manufacturer was Nikon. I can get a Rimfire scope used from Nikon for less than 150.00. Am I missing the boat? Should I be looking at a...
Thanks gentlemen! I learned patience and shot placement from my Omega. Have killed a lot of deer with it. Patience, trigger discipline, and obtaining the correct sight picture (much like a standard firearm) is very important. What is funny is with the same order, I’m ordering night sights for...
Good Day!
I am thinking of purchasing a Pietta 1860 Army Black Powder Revolver 44 Caliber 8" Barrel Case Hardened Steel Frame Blue from our friends at Midway. My only experience with black powder is my Thompson Omega that I use for deer hunting. Would someone be so kind to help build a...
Thank you! I’m going to keep searching and see what I can come up with. Never owned or shot one, but excited to try. I did shoot a deer with my black powder Thompson last fall during early muzzle loader season. One shot, one kill. Gotta love it!
I was at bass pro shop last week and they had no revolvers in stock. All I wanted to do is look at the fit, finish and feel of the SS1180 Uberti Remington New Model Army - Target Model. It seems like a nice shooting iron online, but finding one locally to purchase has been difficult. I would...
My police trade in Glock 22 serves as my “front door” gun. Got it many years ago for less than 300.00. Shoots very well although the night sights are getting a bit dim. While many migrated from the .40 to the 9mm, personally I stayed with .40. Solid choice, but a personal one as well.
I bought a pelican case specifically for flying with a handgun. Two padlocks keyed alike and a cable lock through the handgun. I also include my edc knife, my Swiss Army knife and my ammo. They X-ray first and have never been asked to prove the gun was empty. Oh yea, magazines empty if you are...
I am glad it wasn't flagged for being political. People need to watch, understand and decide their options before getting put into the situation that requires action on their part. Unfortunately, location is huge in the willingness to use deadly force. Think things through, so that your mind...
I seen this piece from Tucker and thought I would share here. Not to say anyone was right or wrong, but for people to think about using your legally owned firearm to protect your life, family or property. Personally, I never leave home without a firearm and am prepared to protect myself, my...
My vote, would be for Smith and Wesson. Although my last purchase new was 18 years ago when I purchased a 340PD. At first, my problem was the barrel got loose. Sent it back and got it back in a few days. After carrying it for many years, the finish was coming off. They replaced the frame...
I use electronic earmuffs with a microphone on each ear. They amplify sounds around and totally protect when shooting my 50 cal muzzleloader. Before getting them, I used ear plugs with a cord that I could easily place them before taking a shot.
I shot a couple of raccoons out during the day last summer for my neighbor. 870 with whatever bird shot I had handy did just fine. They obviously were sick. Yes raccoons are a problem here. They get into my peach trees and into the garden too. There is quite a population of them here.
The...
