    Knife that is also hatchet and shovel

    A big +1 on Moras to play with. Try looking at http://ragweedforge.com (scroll down a bit) to get a good feel for what Moras, puukos, and leukos are out. They start relatively inexpensive and go on up. They are excellent quality for the price. Another big +1 for Bark River. They have a...

    Knife that is also hatchet and shovel

    Mors Kochanski, Cody Lundin, Ray Mears, Ron Hood, and of course Jon Weiseman's SAS Manual are all good resources. A couple web resources include http://www.survival.com/IVB, http://www.knifeforums.com, http://tions.net/CA256EA900408BD5/vwWWW/outdoor~03~000, and http://bushcraftuk.com...

    Contents of Range bag

    rummage...rummage...lessee eyes, ears, spare of both for other folks, pens, pencils, first aid kit, tampons for any bullet wounds, multitools, allen wrenches, CLP, canned air, AR cleaning kit (have had to use it as squib and stuck casing remover for other folks on the line), bore snakes for...

    Famous Man Purses

    I don't carry a purse or a man-bag. I carry a possibles bag. Concept having evolved from blackpowder shooting, where a bag was carried containing flint, powder, shot, etc. I use the concept while hiking for the quickly accessed items - binos, ID books, snack, etc. My satchel for work is...

    What happens when the police can no longer control criminals? Vigilantes . . .

    I am not certain of the validity of this, but it's a story that warms my heart non-the-less. Some time ago, a local PD went on strike. As a result, crime went down. An ensuing expose inerviewed a criminal, asking why the apparent holiday since law enforcement officers were not in the...

    let down by my GP100

    hmmm, schmutz under the extractor star and the star binding. I think HankB may have a point. I was trying to think of something other than that, but no luck. My father had a Super Single Six .22 that the tolerances were tight enough that the cylinder got gummed up after a couple hundred rounds.

    let down by my GP100

    Folks, please don't forget the second part of the dilema. WIFF stated also that "even with the shells out the cylinder still would not turn." Unless the bashing of the extractor caused a misalignment, there may be another issue here. Thoughts?

    York, PA Gun Show

    LP is a member of one of the local Game and Fish Assocs., so he's able to take me as a guest occasionally. Otherwise, Hap Baker's or Elk Neck for rifles, a couple local and Eastern Shore places for clays, and Continental for pistol, still. It's been a while since I was able to shoot anything...

    York, PA Gun Show

    Heya, PAshooter. I changed my name a while back from Solomon Short, I started feeling silly. It was nice to run into you at the show, an unexpected surprise. LeadPumper and I decided to go to the York show, not the Frederick Show, since it's only a little further away, twice the size, and in...

    Australian "cultural" issues....

    Actually, Faithless, I think this goes to prove that in the land of the blind, the eyed man is NOT king. He is something, at best, to be pitied and put up with. At worst, he is to be ridiculed, droven off, or destroyed. After all, he's constantly making crazy claims that have absolutley no...

    shot a revolver for the first time, quick question

    wallysparx I'd like to add to the hot ammo/brass expansion bit: CCI Blazer ammunition, being aluminum hulled, won't contract nearly as fast or as much as brass and can be a real bugger to extract, especially in full powered .357 loads. :banghead: BTW, glad to hear you enjoyed a 686. I...

    Marylanders, I think it's time for another shoot!

    Well, a good time was had by all...two of us. Leadpumper and I took care of much therapy today. Pity no one else could show. I made a sign and everything so people could find us. Oh well. Note to everyone - if you don't want to spend ALL day at the range, don't go on an October or...

    Going to Baltimore..........naked

    Transport of arms into the state is doable if staying at a friends residence, as you'd be storing the weapon there. Further transport would be as described, back and forth to the range (don't stop for beer or a bite afterwards). Techniquely, it's doable if staying at a hotel, but I'm not too...

    Going to Baltimore..........naked

    Sidearm...not recommended. OC...nope Knife...folder under 4", places like courthouses don't like folders that can be opened with one hand - if that's a consideration. Kershaws OK. No switchblade. Butterfly OK, single sided only. Don't know 'bout fixed blade.

    Diagnose The 1911 Problem

    Even though you were using consistent ammo, could this batch have been out of spec, or no longer "in-spec" for this weapon?

    New Member from S. MD

    Greetings monsternav and SB88LX. Yes, you may still own an FAL here. The bill that would have required the banning of new and registration of existing EBRs was shot down, pun intended. I've been rolling around the idea of a carbine length FAL in .243, but I think I'll get a Garand from...

    The Baltimore Sun....please respond to this!

    This story also shows poor recon on the part of the PD. SWAT is supposed to handle high risk warrants - that being anytime a suspect is armed. Articles like this, and those stating that the SKS is "concealable" make me chuckle. Unfortunately, there may be a half truth hidden in this bile...

    Maryland - Next THR Meet/Shoot

    Amen! You always hear but never appreciate it: Cherish what you have, for you know not what you have till it's gone. Don was a great man, terrific friend and he will missed. Hey, LeadPumper - if I'm a reading right (and not left), then even the NRA personal protection course counts...
