The Academy Sports in Auburn has a pretty large selection of long guns, hand guns and various accessories, the best selection in the area IMO. A very good selection of ammo in light of the current run on things. I was able to stock up on .30 carbine JSPs that no one else carries (albeit at a...
I went to the last one at the end of January. It was a good show IMO but to get to 2000 tables they might have counted some of concession stand tables where you could get mustard for your hot dog. There was plenty to look at (IMO) and the aisles were wide enough you didn't have to get hung up in...
My 20" flat top upper was worth the wait. Only a few rounds through it but flawless with that.
Console yourself with the knowledge that these backlogs indicate thousands of rifles getting into the hands of private citizens every month.
Every one of those new buyers in the gun stores and gun shows is a potential letter writer to their congress critters regarding potential gun laws.
I've watched AR15 prices at gun shows climb and backlogs at EVERY SINGLE AR15 vendor exceed 3 months production. These are not ALL current AR...
There are many 10s of millions of guns in private hands. If people routinely snapped and went postal with them ... you'd have a Brady campaign style "blood in the streets" situation for sure.
But that isn't happening.
When someone asks if I own any assault weapons I tell them "all my guns are assault weapons".
The milsurps, the vintage sporting rifles, the .22s and yes the AR15 ... they are all capable of assaulting something.
My take on things - (admittedly trying for some optimism)
Obama and the Democrats have much bigger fish to fry before taking on any more gun control. They have to ram through this boondoggle stimulus bill and some republicans are showing some backbone, a surprising event in itself. If the...
My most recent reads were
An Army at Dawn (the north African campaign) and Day of Battle (the Italian campaign).
Both by Rick Atkinson and very good reads.
Not a bad price in my opinion. If you see it and 90% looks good enough for you then it's worth it.
I paid 600 for a 1956 model 94 last year that is in nearly perfect condition other than some buggered screws and sling swivels installed. It looks good and shoots just fine too.
I go to
1.) Enjoy looking at and handling a lot of guns you can't see at the local stores.
1.a.) Ditto parts and accessories.
2.) Shop for guns/parts/accessories on my mental list - and my mental list includes some research about the current prices and what I am willing to pay.
3.) Sometimes...
Your criteria does not apply. I have the Wilson Combat flip up rear sight on my flattop and it will probably be the only thing for a while. I'll may get an optic someday but I'm liking the sight picture I can get right now over the 20 inch barrel.
701 - that is a pretty good current price on a rifle that is sometimes hard to find. I paid $325 in 2003 for mine. Min is plenty fun and easy to shoot, more accurate than me. In .357 it's a credible home defense carbine. In .38 special it's a not too expensive plinker.
It's a little sensitive...
Hey I have an 1937 Erma.
What's the serial number on the receiver, mine is 368 K. Maybe they were close by at one time.
That is certainly not a standard K98 stock.

Should I expect to need to click on a registration link in order to send you email? I'm not much inclined to click to somewhere I wasn't already planning to go.
