Our local east Texas gun shows used to be mostly private sellers and mom and pop dealers. The last few I have attended are made up of retail gun shops from the Dallas/Ft Worth area. Prices are in line with their over the counter sales but very few bargains. I still go to a few shows just to see...
My dad bought my first rifle in 1968. A Model 94 30-30. About a year later I bought a Mossburg 185 bolt action shotgun from a neighbor for $25.00. I still have both and would never think about selling. Lots of guns came and went during the last 50+ years.
Bought a new Ruger 10/22 to replace the one I gave to a nephew. Also picked up a couple of handguns and a rifle not on the list. Now to find time to shoot them.
My local coffee shop is a hunters hangout a few weeks before season opens. Sometime you can find a few folks looking for someone to split the lease cost or fill in for guys who have dropped out at the last minute. Only problem will be listening to all the hunting stories from last year. Good luck.
Won a Henry golden boy 22LR in a raffle. It sat in the safe for several months and I never shot it. My brother asked if I was interested in selling it. He has it now (still unfired).
My two favorites. Win 94-30/30 and Henry 44Mag. Got the 30-30 in 1968 for my 14th birthday. Got the Henry for my upcoming 68th birthday. Both are great shooting rifles.
I purchased 500 rounds of this Norma 9mm ammo minus the 22LR a couple of months ago. It runs fine in both my pistols, no issues. Will be ordering more. Thanks for the heads-up.
Shooting skeet with a Remington 1100 410ga. No recoil and not much noise. You can hear the action working. Fun as heck and after several rounds finally breaking 20 out of 25.
My favorite center fire is 30-30. My dad gave me a Win Model 94 when I turned 14. That was 54 years ago and I still have it. My neighbor has a Contender with a 30-30 barrel so I guess it’s a handgun round as well. I shot it once but told him next time to just hit my hand with a hammer. Same result.
Me and a couple of the grandkids will get the Red Ryder BB guns and the Ruger 10/22 out later today after the temps drop below 100*. The heat doesn’t slow them down but it kicks my tail. Happy Fathers Day to all the dads.
My big game (deer) rifle is a Ruger American 308. A Ruger 10/22 for the little critter’s. I’ve got a couple of others but these two are always the ones to jump out of the safe when needed.
