    Deceptive on gunbroker?

I hate this practice. It is nothing but spamming the search results and devalues the whole site.

    Ordered from Midway USA

I consider Cabelas, Midway & Brownells to be the most established players in the market. Depending on what I'm looking for I might go to hkparts or sgammo, etc., but for all-around shooting ecommerce sites, Midway is one of the finest in my opinion.

    Ordered from Midway USA

Midway is great. I would buy from them more often but their shipping costs are higher than any other site. Still, it's a great well-designed site with good inventory.

    CZ 550 or Browning X-Bolt .30-06

Some models of CZ 550 do have detachable magazines, depending on caliber.

    My newest is a Star!

I have a Firestar 9mm. Sits in the safe these days, I haven't fired it in years and every time I think I'll sell it, I can't. It was my first non .22 handgun, probably had it almost 20 years. Such a nice little 1911 style gun, I think they'd sell better these days. I'll take it to the range...

    Walther PPS: The single-stack Glock?

I have a PPS 9mm, its a very nice carry gun. I like the flexibility in carrying different size magazines. 6 rounds and its pocketable, 7 rounds and its easy to hold, and an 8-round mag I keep in the pocket. The PPS is much thinner than a P5. Its the thinness that is its greatest distinguishing...

What would your JIC gun be?

OffArtist, I like my Springfield 1911 .45 for this also, and my Glock 21 in .45 too. mortablunt, I think you mean you trust it implicitly, complicit means wrongdoing or doing something illegal. :)

Latest advice on a spotting scope

One helpful item for seeing .22 holes from far away is Shoot-N-C targets. Maybe you already have them, but I just wanted to mention it. With my eyes they're needed for this, even with the spotting scopes at the range.

What would your JIC gun be?

How about a simple .22 rifle that packs in the stock, the Henry US Survival Rifle? Fits in a backpack easily. http://www.henryrepeating.com/rifle-survival-ar7.cfm

    Marlin compared to Henry

These threads often remind of the famous (and great) argument sketch on Monty Python: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-572077907195969915#

Canada, SWAT team called for no trigger locks.

Not sure this is as comforting as you intended: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/07/30/AR2008073003299.html http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=news/local&id=5595688 There are lots of stories like these.

    Night-stand autos

Glock 21. Nice to have 13+1 rounds of .45 ACP ready to go plus an extra magazine. All in my Gunvault.

May I suggest that Mr. Bond be armed with a revolver?

Very old, May of 1956 to be exact! I still like seeing the original scanned letter.

May I suggest that Mr. Bond be armed with a revolver?

The old auto vs. revolver discussions indeed go way back. Letters of Note has a great exchange between a firearms expert & Ian Fleming discussing which weapons would best suit 007. Its worth a read. http://www.lettersofnote.com/2011/06/may-i-suggest-that-mr-bond-be-armed.html

What other gun fora do you subscribe to?

Lots, but one not mentioned much yet: http://forums.1911forum.com/index.php THR is my all-around favorite though.

    Help me spend some money!

You're just $!50 or so away from some NIB Les Baer pricings I've seen. Might be worth a stretch? Or, just at your budget, how about a Sig Sauer P226 X-Five? Not sure what you're looking for, just throwing out ideas. You could probably find a really nice NIB/LNIB HK P7M8 if you look around enough.

    Which Firearm for Home Defense?

Not sure it even needs repeating at this point, but I agree with the majority: find a different LGS or order online. Buds is good. The P226 is a great 9mm, and one of my all time favorites. If that's what you want, "stick to your gun" if you'll pardon the pun, and get it from a place that sells...

Any fans of old Colt .22LR autos?

I am now after drooling over those pictures.
