    EAA/Astra A75 - Sig parts commonality?

I saw a fairly detailed article once explaining that the RAP series is an exceedingly high-quality clone of the A75, and is certified for police duty carry on someone's shortlist, though I've since lost the link. The Astra has sig-style milling on the slide to save a few ounces, the RAP has a...

    Bullpups... pro and con?

Pro: shorter OAL, and/or longer barrel. Con: Potentially increased cost, mechanical complexity, and decreased flexibility in relation to aftermarket parts. I still dig 'em, and I'm eagerly awaiting a Kel-Tec polymer bullpup in 5.56 feeding from factory-supplied Magpul quad-stack STANAG...

My "New Shooter Training Shells (NSTS)" are a success! :D

I don't even own a shotgun. This is tempting me to find a gun store that's open at midnight on a sunday night in order to rectify that.

    best .380 defense ammo

Practice what you carry. I'd rather have something I had tested, and was comfortable with, that was a little less than perfect than something that was awesome sauce, but might not cycle and I'd never fired a whole mag of 'em since they made my hand first hurt, then go completely numb after two...

    low end digital night vision

I bought a $50 gen 1 monocular goggle. Surprisingly good range with an IR-filtered flashlight.

What is the Best SureFire Flashlight for $75 and under

The new G2L is a good light. They're light, durable, and the new LED head is both bright and efficient. ... But for $40, did it come with an LED head, or a little LED lamp module? The former is better, the latter is more versatile. I'd recommend picking up something used from Candlepower...

How to secure pressure switch on AR?

Duct tape? Rubber cement? Both won't go anywhere unless you try, but they'll come off if you need them off. Do you have any picatinny rails? Magpul makes a tapeswitch carrier that attaches along a rail, and a great many vertical foregrips have cutouts to stash a tape switch in.

Full Auto BB Gun in Manassas, Va

This thread was from 2003... and times have changed. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2010/08/02/the-gas-sub-machine-gun-gsmg/ P90 style two-stage trigger, cheap magazines with the option to use bulk-fed BBs soon after release, and a paintball style tank in back so you're not eating...

Why hasn't the market for a good disposable gun been filled?

What about a four-round pepperbox chambered in .45 snakeshot? Some kind of solid-state, or piezo priming, perhaps? Piezo-triggered magnesium-oxygen flashbulbs? There's quality e-matches that run on a single AA battery and burn at over 4500 degrees -- perhaps something like that would work...

    Stupid buy? Replica FP-45 Liberator?

For an inflation-adjusted $32, plus $8 to the maker as profit, I'd pick one up to have unloaded and stored in the kitchen next to one round of .45 snakeshot. This being florida, having a just-in-case gun for dealing with the occasional rattlesnake would be nice. Last time one got aggressive...

To scout scope or not to scout scope...

It seems like there's a big market for Leupold to put out a version of the VX-L series with less magnification and longer eye relief. 5cm low-profile objective? I'd go for it.

    Odd Picatinny Rail Question

I'm looking for an adapter that will put an inch or two of picatinny rail on my bicycle handlebars for using a cheap weaponlight as a bike headlight. Does anybody know if this bastardized gadget exists, or if I'll have to improvise with pipe clamps and a hacksaw? I'd prefer something with the...

    Weapon Lights

If you trust Solarforce's switches, the rest of their product is just an aluminum tube. Here's the build I'm considering for my cheap-bastard's rifle light: Solarforce LM-1 quick detach mount Solarforce L2M body host (you need to bring your own LED module) Solarforce PTS3 third-generation...

Does Anyone Shop With LA Police Gear Online?

Bought 5.11 pants from them, twice. Bought a Surefire rechargeable conversion from them last week, which should be delivered by this evening. Never had anything go badly, except regretting not buying more 5.11 pants in my size while they had them cheap.

    Paintball - anyone play it?

Frozen paintballs? Okay, now that's just asking for a beating. (I'd take the high road, but not everyone has scruples!) It's hard to regulate for malice, but most fields I've played are requiring field paint. I have a Viewloader Lancer, recently upgraded with a Extreme Rage Sonic hopper, a 4...

A pragmatic replacement for guns gone missing

Not set on a Boberg, thought the joke or two I cracked about prototypes gave that away. It's a "Wouldn't it be nice if..." gun, really. I was hoping for realistic suggestions for nice ones I've overlooked, or good threads on the marketplace I've missed.

A pragmatic replacement for guns gone missing

I am leaning towards a 9mm or .40 semi, but unless another Kahr comes along for $400, my first choice is out of the question. I'd happily buy a RAP 401/440, but they're scarcer than tritium and not stainless. I'm also leaning toward a single-stack for pocketability. A Boberg XR-9 would be...
