i took both uppers to the range and shot both. the group is tighter at 10 yrds offhand for the red dot off hand but the slab side upper has no problem hitting a 6 inch gong at 50 yrds rested on the bench once you figure out the hold. off hand 50 yds it is just a tad worse than the red dot and...
that gap that you are mentioning may be from the design. the cylinder lockup occurs when the trigger is in the pulled position and the cylinder is pushed forward. so you will still see it after you get your gun back.
are you sure your bullets are not too long? the colt cylinders are shorter than ruger and smith and wesson. i had one load i could not close the cylinder on and it turns out the bullet tip was protruding just a bit. those bullets run fine in the other guns.
not trying to derail the thread but how much torque did you apply to attach the holosun to the plate. the instructions were 7 inch pounds with the plate ( i guess that low since it's mounted on the receiver of a 22)and 15 inch pounds with the red dot instructions. my lowest torque setting is 10...
i think it's the lobos industries mount seeen below. i had mounted mine yesterday on my clearance ruger mark 4 upper with loctite and ordered the red dot from amazon. i haven't shot the upper yet and have not checked the zero yet on the iron sights so i may try shooting it first to make sure...
i like this from amazon. fairly cheap.i got a fancier magazine loader from speed beez that is similar to the McFadden one when it was on sale. i wasn't happy with the fancier one especially when using aguila 40 cpsp which is shorter than other rounds and tenda to tilt in the magazine.
Ruger...
i got my upper today. unmarred finish. my improved ruger bolt is on backorder and will be shipped directly to me. transfer was $15 at my lgs. already have a lobos industries red dot mount on standby and will probably put a 407c holosun( not yet bought) on the new upper. good deal. i will try to...
reminds me of the gun handling by this army lt. general. " now let me shoot this in full semi automatic..."

definitely. fortunately, our transfer fee actually has come down over the yrs from $35 to $25 to $15 last time i had one done about 6 months ago. hope it is still the same. was the $25 upper complete with sights?
in case one is interested in 5.5 inch upper without a bolt. there are some available with volquartsen currently. not quite $25 which i heard about before. they are $40 each. i have a competition mark 4 that i put the accurizing kit in and was planning on putting a red dot on but i figured if i...
i replaced my mark 2 with a mark 4 competition last summer. overall, i liked the mark 4 though the trigger felt "floppy" on reset. the target grips looked great but not so good for 2 handed shooting. the right safety lever hits my knuckle. i replaced the grips with a hogue rubber grip, put in a...
aah! TheHighRoad where i can get gun knowledge as well as expand my vocabulary. love it. synecdoche... i never encountered that before and had to look it up. now on to check the pronunciation.
me applying the new word : referring to cartidges as bullets then is an example of synecdoche
