    Companion for the M12?

Sounds like an Ithaca might be the way to go. First, they are currently making them in Ohio. Second, vintage corn-cob fixed-full-choke models are still quite affordable since they don't accept tacticool tube extensions and most have fixed full-chokes anyways. Third, it has a crossbolt safety...

Crimps in old semi automatic shotguns

Unfired rolled-crimp shells tend to be slightly shorter than fold-crimped ones. With 2 3/4" shells, this can make a difference of a single round of tube-magazine capacity. With 2 1/2" shells, probably not? However, it seems like the thing a game warden might be interested in. Shotguns are...

    I Don't fully "get it"

A junk Mosin Nagant M91/30. There's a couple gallons of cosmoline soaked into the stock and the bolt sticks so hard you about need a mallet to cycle it. It's not a couple faint smears of grease on top of an intact finish; the finish is mostly gone and and the stock is completely saturated...

Remington 870 Tactical-12 gauge, doubled in price

There's also Remington's bankruptcy to consider. Roundhill is a complete unknown and doesn't have 870's back into production yet.

    Keystone Hunter Pistol

I've thought about these quite a bit, but I've always wondered how shootable they are offhand. Let us know how it shoots!

Added a Kahr T9 Elite to my layaway today.

I have an MK9. I don't get why everybody seems to hate Kahr triggers so much. The T9 is gorgeous. I wouldn't mind owning one someday.

What cartridge would you like to see made?

I want to see a 28 gauge shotshell necked (crimped?) down to .50 cal. It's not much of a modification, as 28 gauge is already .55 cal. Why? As a .50 cal, it can be chambered in "pistols". Sure, there needs to be minimal rifling, but the tradeoff is there's no minimum overall length...

US Patriot Armory Glock 17 slide and barrel

Looks good, and the green matches too. What kind of sights are you going to put on it?

    Dickinson Pump Action

If you can't get ahold of a used Mossberg or 870 for a good price, maybe it's worth a try? I'd like to think it would be hard to mess up a pump shotgun, but even domestic manufacturers have had issues. The Dickinson is a complete unknown.

    What doesn't interest you?

I'm not really interested in .41 mag. I'm not sure I get the point of the "in between" magnum. I'm not really that interested in .44 special. Seems like a reasonable round, but kind of expensive for what you get if you don't reload.

    HK VP9 POA POI

Yeah, it's set up for "drive the dot". If you don't like it, front sights are available in a variety of heights.

    Are hex Mosins better?

If we are talking collector's jewels, that sounds plausible to some degree. Otherwise, condition varies so much between each Mosin that I don't think you can really make a blanket statement.

If you could have only one handgun, what would you choose?

Yeah, it's kind of like if I could only have one screwdriver. Some folk like a standard #2 Philips. Nothing else needs to be tightened nor loosened. NOR HAS EVEN BEEN. NOR WILL BE. EVER. THE END. That was sure easy. But I start thinking, man, I actually needed a flathead the other week...

How many magazines, first time gun owner

I'd say at least 5 spare if they are unusually expensive, with 10 the goal for everything else. If we're talking something like AR or AK mags, maybe double that? . You're probably going to want another flavor of AR or AK (and then there's pistol versions!), and "hi-cap" mags are particularly...

    Anyone else hate reloading?

I have a single stage 12 gauge press. It's miserable to operate. It demands complete focus and attention at every singe tedious, monotonous, and repetitive step. The worst part is dropping the shot. I don't have a place to mount the thing, so the press is screwed to a board. If my attention...

    Henry Single Shot .357 Magnum...

It's a handsome little rifle. I've been meaning to get one to keep my sixgun company.

    Bare Walls

Frequenting the pawn shops, pistols are cleaned out. One pawn shop likes to put out new low cost firearms when inventory is low. About all they they had out were new Beretta APX's, compact and full sized. This chain diverts all of their "tactical" rifles to online sales, but they had their...

Glock changing their model line up?

Eh. Seems like Glock couldn't care much less about what the competition is doing, and that most changes come down to cost reduction or meeting contractual requirements. I hope Gen4 isn't discontinued. I've let insane rabid Glockniks chase me away from the whole line, except it seems like a...

    Charter 357 mag Professional

It's an intriguing revolver, but I wonder if they got the sights right on this one. I'm very curious as to how it shoots.

    We need a Maverick shockwave

Eh, why would Mossberg want to cannibalize their own market? They gotta wait for sales to slow or for pressure from competitors first. Shockwaves are still selling pretty hot, and I suspect there's not much pressure from the Honcho and Tac-14. I'd probably buy one, but I don't think we're...
