Security Six Grips, same as GP100?

You are welcome to these if you would like them. They look good, fit well and are absolutely useless for shooting anything more than midrange specials. These have 1 range trip on them, and the snow tires went back on. If you want to give 'em a go, I'd be happy to pass them along to someone who...

    Repackbox

This is an unsolicited product endorsement. I've used Repackbox for boxing up my reloads for a few years now. For most its overkill, but I've had fun printing up my own labels and packing up my ammo with my own logo and all the loading data on the box. Its a good product, but my most recent...

110g RMR fmj for 30 carbine

Just got back from the range, RMR'S loaded at 1.655 and 1.665 both work great. Does not surprise me that Walkalong was able to load his at 1.675 with good results. In my chamber, the bullet is on the lands at 1.680. I think I'll stick with 1.665. Which brings me to another interesting point...

110g RMR fmj for 30 carbine

Just finished putting together some dummy rounds. So, the plan now is to load these RMR's to the same COAL as the Armscor. Looks like they're on the lands at 1.680, there seems to be about .010 variance in the length of the projectiles, a bit better than the Armscor...those are all over the...

110g RMR fmj for 30 carbine

Well...looks like 1.650 fits the chamber and feeds just fine. If I do not adjust my die from being set up for the Armscor projectiles, the RMR seat at 1.633. Thats .022 difference, which should keep the case volume equal. I think I'm going to split the difference and load the RMR's at 1.640...

110g RMR fmj for 30 carbine

My first batch of 30 carbine loads were worked up with Armscor projectiles, which requires the coal to be shortened up a bit due to a more blunt bullet profile, I load them to about 1.655". The RMR bullets I've just gotten around to loading have an even rounder ogive (blunter profile) On...

    best powder for .45 ACP

I've had good results with Power Pistol and 200g XTP's. 7.3g at 1.240" ran approx 950fps over my chronograph. Depends on if you're looking for velocity, accuracy, recoil, muzzle flash...etc. Titegroup gives me excellent accuracy and a soft shooting round but lower velocities. For everyday...

Can anyone help me ID this model savage .22lr?

Hard to tell from that photo, but I'd say its the 64F. If it is, from what I hear it's a fine rifle on par with the marlin 795.

    "Discreet" rifle case..?

https://www.guitarcenter.com/Road-Runner/Boulevard-II-Electric-Bass-Gig-Bag-L77869.gc This is more or less what I've been using for over 10 years. A regular guitar case would work better for most rifles and carbines, but the bass case is needed for my shotguns. I can easily carry two fully...

    45acp what's favorite bullseye or win 231?

Bullseye is the go to for 45acp. 230g jacketed or plated, or cast...its the best. Titegroup works well for very accurate, soft shooting rounds. For the 200 grain XTP I loaded up some with power pistol. Gets them downrange at about 950fps with very good accuracy. However, I can certainly...

Have you ever hunted with OLD hunting ammo?

Back in the mid 90's I regularly used fiber hulled shotshells that dated from about the mid 1950's. Those all fired and functioned just fine. In the late 2000's I fired some 8mm Mauser dated 1938 and 1939. The few rounds of that I fired ran perfectly

    9mm 115 Nuke?

Haven't tried 115 in 380, but like @Mark_Mark I've loaded 88g Remington JHP in 9mm. I'll have to look at my notes, but it was pushed with a healthy dose of power pistol. IIRC it was 1300+ fps out of a 5" barrel and an impressive fireball. Five stars, would recommend. 115 in any configuration...

Do You Agree With ANY Gun Control Laws?

It's so hard to say. Do we need gun laws? Yeah I think we do. The problem is trying to craft laws designed to enforce common sense. The need in a functional society is to keep dangerous weapons away from unstable people. Preferably, to help unstable people get help so they are not a threat...

    •••stick on WW alloy••?

Yup, those are soft lead. They do make stick on wheel weights out of all sorts of stuff, as has been mentioned, but I've melted down a whole heap that look just like the op's pic. Personally, I don't have a use for them yet, but I still section them out to melt and pour them into ingots...

When did shotshells start using magnetic bases?

Gotta be 10 or more years now. I know when walmart started selling the 100rd value packs of winchester and federal target loads, those have all been steel bases

Trying to get into reloading, want your input.

Definitely recommend getting a couple manuals, and reading through the front sections that come before the load data. I started with the Lee manual and have since collected many more. I also started with the Lee value turret press as a "starter" setup...and 10yrs on is still my primary press...

Love affair with the 16 ga.

I need to bring my 16g Stevens 77f back out for some field work. Its been years since its seen any game. It was inexpensive in its day, not well looked after as it came to me in my teens. Since then its had a couple of lackluster cold blue jobs. What I'm saying is she's ugly...but still a...

Seen Alliant Powder at LGS. Ouch!

At the gun show a few weeks ago, a couple of vendors has 8# jugs of h110....for $495:fire: Alliant powders were in the $75/lb range. Hodgdon pistol powders in 1# containers were in the $50-$60 range. I'd like to get some more Bullseye...but not at that price. I still have a fair amount of...

    Ammo Shelves at Academy Overflowing

The local BPS has ammo on the shelf regularly, never has the same brand or load available on two consecutive trips, but generally they have most cartridges covered. Sure seems like folks are pretty well stocked up though. I went to the local gun show with a 200rd box of federal FMJ 45acp...
