    Fired Bullet Linked to Make/Model of Gun?

    I see this in movies and TV a lot. The cops recover a fired bullet and some how can magically tell what brand and model of gun it was fired from. I don't think anyone could tell what BRAND of gun a bullet was fired from never mind the MODEL! Is there something I'm missing here?

    Fire autoloader inside coat pocket or under bed sheets, etc?

    Does anyone have any good info about this (pros and cons)? What can happen to the fired round? Can the muzzle blast burn your hand or catch cloth on fire? Can the cloth hinder slide movement? What about shell ejection? Other things I haven't thought of?
