i had the opportunity to test these slugs last year prior to release. They shoot fantastic at long ranges and are less punishing on my shoulder. Shot two deer with them last year and both of them went less that 20 yards. The buck i shot was at 137. here is a picture from 200.
+1 for federals. The issue with slug guns is the inconsistency between barrels and manufacturers to be able to tell you what round shoots best. I have a lot of trials with different guns that provide different results with the same ammo. With the Rem 870 i found that Accutips are wonderful...
Pony up and buy the sabots! I don't think that you are going to shoot enough rounds to make it worth "leading" up a rifled barrel. Try Remington's Accutips..they are about 10 bucks a box of 5 but will pattern well at 100.
I hunt the little vermin all the time...I mean ALL year. They WILL come in fast if they are hungry. It is a good idea to get something out in front of you to take their eyes off of you. Ghillie suits or similiar camo is recomended. If your shots are less than 50; leave the rifle at home..00...
I just bought a rilfe with Carl Gustafs Stads Gevärsfaktori on the receiver. It also has 1908 on it. Looks like a monte carlo stock and has been trimmed down to a 16" barrel. Any thoughts on worth or even chamber?
