LEO's: How did you department decide on the firearm and ammunition you carry?

I'm not a LEO, but my local PD has carried Glock 17s as long as I can remember. About 5 months ago, S&W came in and offered to replace all those Glocks with M&P's, in the caliber of each individual officer's choice, for the cost of a new duty holster from Smith. YMMV, but if it were me, I...

    Benchmade tomahawk

Cold Steel has a whole line up of hawks at various prices and styles. I own a SOG Fasthawk and love it! It's very compact and light so I can strap it to my bag for hiking or camping and not even notice it.

Slingshot as a viable BOB weapon/game harvester??

wheelgunslinger beat me to it, here's an accompanying video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGIcCRJGYug Not sure of the velocities he achieved with an average wrist rocket. But I bet with some stronger bands, and a days worth of practice, something along those lines could be pretty effective...

Don't discount the CZ and Sig polymer lines of pistols! Both companies have amazing track records. Any specific reason for polymer framed pistols over steel?

Fred Meyers in Oregon again selling guns, both handguns and rifles/shotguns

The one in Bend has a gun counter now. Although the young kid working it doesn't know too much about the stuff he's selling. I asked him for a good full sized gun that I could open carry as a Security Guard and the first thing he pointed too was... ...a Ruger LCP! :banghead:

Wal-Mart Walk I am planning on getting my Oregon CHL, but for the time being funds are a bit restricted so I just OC. To test reactions I decided to a Wal-Mart Walk. I know it's silly but it actually eased any concerns I had about reactions from other people. As far as I could tell nobody...

    Which semi-auto handguns to buy?

+1 from me on the CZ line. I can't speak for all of them, but my 75BD is a dream to shoot and carries very nice. I have heard nothing but good things about all the other models as well. I have been eyeing the sub $200 Makarovs on page 26 of the latest cdnn catalog!

    The CZ Club

I made a typo I didn't correct in my original post. The gun I purchased was a 75BD! I know some will scoff at the thought of the decocker but I have been handling the gun A LOT since I bought it, and also took her shooting today, and I really like it. I took it apart and and cleaned...
