    7.5x55 swiss k31

That would be Prvi Partizan, not Parvi. Yes, it's fine in a K31 and the brass is quite good. Also a buck cheaper here http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/index.php/cName/rifle-ammo-75x55-swiss but check the total with the shipping costs. /B

Why aren't there BHP clones in the $450 range?

The marketplace at work ... if the demand and infinite customizing options were there then there'd be 75 clone makers cranking them out and cutting each others' throats on pricing. /B

about the life of rifle brass

When you resize the neck to create enough tension to hold a bullet, you're working the brass. When the cartridge fires and the bullet is released, the neck expands and then shrinks back a bit as it cools - this also works the brass. The constant working will cause the brass to become brittle...

Groups 25 yd 9mm 1911 with Titegroup powder

One of the serious Bullseye people - a commercial ammo loader that specializes in BE- posted the following notes about 9mm for BE. "OK, so, now you want the secret load. I kept you waiting long enough. The load is a Hornady XTP 9-115 gr JHP bullet, sitting on top of 4.8 grs of VihtaVuori...

    Soot On Rifle Reloads

Something seems amiss ... Hornady, which has been conservative IMO with its loadings, lists the 52gr VMax as an IMR3031 max of 25.5 with an OAL of 2.230 while the 8gr heavier 60 VMax tops out at 22.8 at a slightly longer OAL (2.250). While the pic seems to show a noticeably longer bearing...

Do glasses effect iron site shooting.

Decot or Ranger (probably several other) brands of prescription glasses can be ordered with the sweet spot centered more toward the upper left of the lens (right eye dominant, right handed shooter). Another option provides a height adjustable nose piece. Lenses are replaceable as your...

Federal .223 Case Failure....is this common?

Try a half dozen Win and Remmy ... if same results, it's the gun. If not, mail them to Federal along with a couple of the cases that didn't split. /Bryan

    measuring IMR 4831

Surprisingly, the Lee Perfect Powder Measure is the best I've found for Lincoln Log powders ... I have one devoted solely to 4064. http://ads.midwayusa.com/product/540522/lee-perfect-powder-measure?cm_vc=ProductFinding /B

best iron sights for indoor range use ?

The variable aperture "stick-ons" can sharpen a target by increasing your depth of field but they necessarily do so by reducing the ambient light - it's always a trade-off and not likely useful in already dim conditions. I find them useful for outdoor Bullseye. Merit are probably the best...

How does a bullet go from cylinder to barrel?

Excepting of course those bench rest, and some long range shooters, that "soft seat" into the lands. /Bryan

New Swiss K31 and reusing GP11 cases

Something is off in your measuring - are you sure that's the correct gauge for that bullet (Hornady's/Stony Point A, B, etc. designations)? A typical 150 FMJ won't close with an OAL greater than about 2.92 - the GP-11 is much longer as they use an extremely pointed - long nose - bullet...

    Swiss K31 (Pictures!)

THe 48th Ed. didn't include 7.5 Swiss - don't think the 49th has it either. Hornady manuals have included ... most of their bullets are tested at 2.815 - 2.91 but a few are listed at 3.025 ... I'd definitely test those latter sizes for chamber fit before heading to the range. /B

    Swiss K31 (Pictures!)

The steel or aluminum no-drill mounts are excellent ... http://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/vendor/vendorId/159 I use the Redding K-31 specific dies; Hornady also offers a set. The Lee and RCBS dies are actually for the various 1896/11 models - opinions vary around the rumor-net but I'd...

First try at .223 loading progressive - not good.

Walkalong said ... That was my point - neither swaging nor reaming is a surefire bet on ALL brass ... swaging is apparently not a cure-all, even with a Super Swage. /B

Will the closing of the Doe Run smelter lead ammo co's to switch to mild steel cores?

None of the bullet manufacturers use virgin lead - it's all recycled. The closure of that smelter will have zero effect. See NSSF and Sierra web sites for confirmation. /Bryan

First try at .223 loading progressive - not good.

...small thread drift... Walkalong said... I think it's brass specific. I used a Dillon Super Swage on 1k of SB 308 brass (spanish milspec) and found none would accept a primer (Win, Wolf & Rem tried) ... every one required a touch with a reamer - nice brass, but a lot of work. /Bryan

    .308 Win Optimized

Sure, it likely will matter ...somewhat... but so will the torque on the action screws, how hot the barrel is, the brand of primer, jump to the lands, etc.etc. so, as noted above, there's no generic, easy substitute for range time. /Bryan
