    Vector V93 rifle performance

I think you need more lube and a grease product. The V 93's are a bit "tight" when new and they need to be kept clean and well lubed until they losen up a bit. I recommend you use a synthetic grease on the bolt, carrier, hammer, firing pin/spring ( I apply with a qtip, pipe cleaner or my finger)...

    Vector V93 rifle performance

Never had a problem with mine in 3 years - what ammo are you using ? I took it easy at first and broke it in slowly with frequent cleanings and relubing. It needs to be greased and lubed as per G3 / HK91 / HK93 procedures. I also cycled the action over 1000 times while watching tv to smooth it...

    Stag Arms 6L Super Varminter

Lessor quality than whose barrels ? Stag manufactures high quality products so why would you think their barrels are not of equal or better quality than any top tier company.

    silver bear .223

Good ammo - cleaner than Wolf - the 7.62x39 match is very good in my rifles.

Rambo - gun movie - SPOILERS.

If there is any question of Stallonies antigun position he made the NRA list of shame - http://www.nraila.org/Issues/FactSheets/Read.aspx?ID=15 and has been outed here - http://thecitizensjournalblog.blogspot.com/2007/08/sylvester-stallone-anti-gun-activist.html. What irks me is as stated above...

    nubee primer help

If your turret press is not the Lee big classic model - the RCBS primer pocket swage tool from Midway at about $30 will work. The re-design of the RCBS tool works great for me in spite of some reviews you might read. Simple to use - 10 seconds per case for small 5.56's - 15 seconds for 308's...

    .243 Questions

The .243 is an good choice for mid size and less game - excellent for varmit hunting. You have a wide choice of bullets from 58 gr. varmit to 120 big game. Remington's .244 is similar ( ballistically superior) however it was not popular because nimrods of the day did not know what they were...

Is ballistic an opinion???? The underestimated 30-30 against grizzlies...

A pistol would be a better than nothing but if a bear encounter was likely I would not want to bewt my life on one. If you are going to carry a long arm in bear country when fishing why not carry a 12 ga. shotgun. If you end up having to shoot the bear it is going to be close range. A shotgun...

    SS109 for Home Defense

SS 109 - aka green tip penetrator's. AR platform is not my first choice for apartment or typical burb's break-in home defense situation. Statistically most breakins will be at night - a 12 ga. pump in bedroom would be my choice for a night-time defense firearm. The first round a 7 1/2 followed...

Whats a good beginers reloading manual???

The new Speer manual #14 is a good overview. The latest Lee is good but a bit dry reading. Also you should pick up an old spiral bound Speer Lyman or similar manual from the 50-60's for your collection. The pictures and information is worth a review.

    My son wants a Mosin!!!!!

I would not recommend you get him a Mosin unless he enjoys shooting a 12 ga. shotgun. The recoil is substantial for a first rifle. Go with a 10 /22 or if he is set on a centerfire I would see if you can get him in the looks of a NEF handi rifle in a modest caliber or a Marlin 30 /30 336. They...

    New Ruger Mini 14 parts

You need a new Wolff spring from: http://www.gunsprings.com/1ndex.html - inexpensive part - the older minis need help with the milspec primers such as Wolf ammo. My 14 and 30 both have new springs - my Mini 30 would ftf about 5 times per 20 before I changed. Cost me $25 to have gunsmith change...

    Ahhh, another cartridge decision

The 30:06 is the most popular cartridge in the world and has been for basically a hundred years it just isn't sexy as some of the new cartridges are. If you are looking for a box or two of ammo a year hunting rifle then go with any rifle 25 caliber and above you like. A M1 Garrand is going to...

    6.8 Spc

I enjoy both of the calibers and I believe they will both be around in the future as they have different capabilities. The 6.5 Grendel is more comparable to the 308 WIN as it has good ballistics, is very accurate and makes for a good choice for benchrest shooting and up to mid size big game...

No reviews of .223 bolt action?

The bolt action in a 223 REM is a bit boring to me - by way of example I have a nice Remington 700 BDL in 223 I purchased new last year. The Remington looks good, carries well, shoots accurately and is easy to maintain however it does nothing my AR's won't do. When I go shooting with 224's I...

    6.8 Spc

Fast forward the thread almost a year - we now find 6.5 and 6.8 complete rifles and single uppers are available from a variety of sources. Ammunition and reloading supplies are available. Several animals have been harvested by both calibers and at least the 6.8 is being used in sandy locals. All...

Does your Ruger Ranch Rifle mangle your brass?

No probem reloading it - just go a bit slower when resizing and use a bit of lube around lip (I mean a very small amount on your finger - Hornady works well). HK 93 brass has an even larger dent plus flutes.

    16.5" barrel questions

They are all slower than a rifle 16.5 in. - there are several ballistics programs on the inet (free) where you can find your answer.
