This source has almost come a halt. It used to be that the containers would be used once and then recycled, after the proper cool down time. This is no longer the case and they are being reused. I don't know how many times. But I was buying all I could get of the large cores which are...
Wow! So I am nuts because I open carry? It always amazes me when people who obviously haven't been exposed to open carry make blanket statements.
And for me personally. You could ask me all you want to not carry in a particular fashion. I would be polite but I would not change how I was...
Exactly what I was going to say. Your never know you were being swept if he was wearing a jacket. I carry in a shoulder rig for formal situations. It is what it is when it comes to that type of holster. Keep your finger off the trigger and the gun won't fire.
Gouging and profiteering don't apply when it comes to powder. It's not a necessity that you need to live. If grocery stores started doing it there would be an issue. After a natural disaster is when these type of laws will be enforced, if at all. Reloaders are such a small percentage of the...
No one brand chambers their guns for all the cartridges I want to shoot. So by necessity I have various brands. I also buy based on particular features. No one company can produce guns to satisfy everyone's tastes.
Increaes have come at the distributor level, not at manufacturing. Sandy Hook is what really screwed everything up. The cost of manufacturing didn't go up as much as what we were being charged at the retail level. It's almost become a commodity and retailers will charge what the market is...
Based solely on my gun collection? Kentucky it is because of lack of hurricanes. If you've ever noticed a lot of the crazy news stories come out of Florida. To many people moving in and out all the time. I do get a kick out of the liberal comments. Liberal are all over the country and they...
In my experience, no. The goldenrod does not work well enough, especially in humid areas. One of my safes is in an unconditioned garage. It's hot and humid all summer long and it will hit low teens/single digits in the winter.
I have two of the PEET safe driers in it. One was not enough...
Post pics, it helps w/ appraising the value. General rule for me is brass counter is worth more than steel. And lever safety is worth more than tang safety. These are my personal preferences because I actually shoot mine. The counter doesn't matter in this situation but the safety does.
If...
Cities in states w/ preemption like to ignore this fact. PA has a massive problem w/ it. It doesn't surprise me when a city passes laws like this. The "city" part is all you need to know as to why it happened.
Own a bunch of firearms and you have to do this anyway. I can't remember how to take down every handgun I own. Let alone the rifles. Finding the manuals if you don't have one is very simple thanks to the internet.
That's what XRF analysis is for. People make way to much out of hardness. The commercial casters have duped people into believing they need hard bullets. Fact is you can get buy w/ a BHN of 11-12 for almost all applications. This is easy to achieve w/ wheel weights. If you need it harder...
You do not need a hardness tester. I cast for rifles and don't have one. People like to make things more complicated than they need to be. There are lead alloy calculators that will give you an idea of how hard your lead is. This is all that's really needed.
Here is a link to the Annie: http://www.fluxeon.com/Annie.html
I wish I had the money for one because it's the way to go. Those that have it love it. I went w/ the Annealez due to cost. But it has limitations. Specifically short brass.
Almost forgot about the AMP. This one is the...
Don't tell people my secret ;)
The one range I belong to is on a fairly steep grade. After a rain I walk the drainage ditches. Lots of lead to be found. This is the only scrounging I do anymore.
I've taken to buying lead in half ton to ton lots from a foundry. No dealing w/ cleaning it...
There are a bunch of new annealers that have come out. Prices vary but there are plenty of affordable ones. Then there is the Annie induction annealer :)
I own both. If the weather is bad I grab one w/ a synthetic stock. Otherwise it's one w/ a wood stock. I completely understand the merits of a synthetic stock. I also realize that they can be butt ugly. But it's not like rainbow laminate stocks aren't atrocious as well.
You always have...
Absolutely not. Don't make my firearm a worthless club because two people are idiots. You can't legislate safety. And you definitely can't fix stupid.
You don't hand someone the firearm you're using to protect yourself. I wish I could say I find it hard to believe people do this, but I...
Red Dot works for reduced rifle loads. But 2400 is a better option for rifle loads. But it's a magnum handgun powder so it's not suitable for all. W231/HP-38 can be used in rifles as well. Don't expect to find published loads for it. But they call it load development for a reason.
You...
If you stick to a budget you can build one cheaper. If you're like me and decided to buy upgraded parts as you went along you end up spending more. Every part I bought was on sale at the time. But it all adds up in the end. Last go around I built three rifles at once. It would have been...
