What kind of rest/ bags/ bench do you use?

My rest and bench are built on the cheap. Bench is a used counter top placed on top of cinder blocks. The rest is a car jack with a wider base and top added. The bag is created with a t shirt and corn sewed up. It is far from top of the line, but it works for what I use it for. T/C Contender in...

T/C Firehawk- Is it worth it?

I decided to go for it.

T/C Firehawk- Is it worth it?

He had $260 on the tag. I offered $175. It was on consignment so he had to talk to the owner.

T/C Firehawk- Is it worth it?

I have eyes on a T/C Firehawk at the LGS. (.54 cal, inline bolt, #11 percussion caps, non removable breech plug, iron sights, stainless barrel and composite stock.) It is in good/excellent condition. It would also include powder measure, brass flask, bore butter, about 50 mixed sabots and cast...

    Most regretted gun purchase?

Ruger 10/22. (Flame suit on) Nothing wrong with it, runs flawlessly and is quite accurate. It just doesn't excite me. The factory trigger is heavy. The stock feels obtuse. I bought one with gift money because of all the online praise. Shortly after, I inherited another. The inherited one...

    Most regretted gun purchase?

Same story here. It was my first handgun. Debating getting rid of it.

    Human scent masking

Hunt in the cow pasture and use your chore clothes as your hunting clothes. The dirtier, the better. However, I know most don't have this option.

    As requested thread, encore 223

Not an Encore, but a Contender, Super 16 barrel in .223 Remington. BEC Gold Label 3-9x50 glass mounted by previous owner. Do I keep the scope on it?

I never thought this would happen to me.

Kel Tec PF9 in a Remora holster. I've never had problems when carried IWB with this holster. It was near the end of a long day cleaning calf pens in the snow. I moved my rig to an oversized inside Carhart coat pocket. At some point of bending, twisting, bouncing and climbing in and out of the...

Show us a picture of your reloading bench

My shell holders reside on top of my powder through expanding dies. I move my powder measure between turrets therefore making this an easy option for me.

    First squib

I had previosly loaded a near identical recipe with the only difference being a 158 gr Berry's plated with no problems. I guess I need a heavier charge under the lighter bullet. Seems counter intuitive.

    First squib

Yes, there was loose powder, but it seemed like it was half burnt/discolored.

    First squib

Walkalong, yes and no. Load cylinder, barrel down first shot- squib. Unload and clear. Reload, barrel down, 3 normal shots. 4th round squib. Unload, clear and go home.

    First squib

With embarrassment, I had my first squib the other day testing some mouse farts for Mrs. Mac Tm. (She isn't a shooter, but she really likes my Ruger, especially light loads). I think the problem was just too light of a load, but I'm curious what others have to say. Powder level was...

Lee classic cast reverse index rod and case kicker

In my excitement I have made an error. My press is a Lee Classic Turret, not a classic cast. Hopefully I did not confuse anyone unfamiliar with Lee presses.

Lee classic cast reverse index rod and case kicker

Just finished 100 rounds of 38 special and I am happy with my new improvement!

Lee classic cast reverse index rod and case kicker

I started with square stock. (Measure your original for specs.) A little time on the bench grinder to round one end in order to thread the rod to attach the square nut. Clamp in bench vice, heat and twist. My case kicker is just electric fence wire bent around the rod. I know already that I need...

Lee classic cast reverse index rod and case kicker

You might be right. I am pretty good at shuffling the empty case and loaded cartridge at the same time. I'll have to give a report after I use it.

Lee classic cast reverse index rod and case kicker

I have seen others that have reversed the index rod on their Lee Classic Cast press and installed a case kicker. I was able to put some time in tonight and now I have one too. I didn't reload any but the test runs with dummy rounds seems like it will work great! As with most of the best...
