Investing in gold or Colt SSA

Not to be a nit-picker, but the missile you describe was(is) known as the "Peacekeeper" not "Peacemaker". That being said, you sure got a fine hogleg there pardner. kid;)

Almost got my new ruger today...

You did the correct thing and was able to inspect the gun before you filled out any paper work. In that case, it would be up to the dealer to do whatever he wanted to do with HIS gun. You wouldn't buy a new car with a bad fender and be expected to take it to Detroit while the dealer took your...

    Pietta .44

Close RatDog. I think the barrel is a bit longer though. So from what I've gathered so far, is that I should get the gun for a fair bit under $200. For another $40-$60 I can get a new one. Maybe I'll offer $150 and see what happens:D. kid Ps. Looked at the link Ratdog gave and I think I'll...

    Pietta .44

No top strap, brass grip frame. Looks like a Colt Army. Actually seems a little small for a .44, but I'm used to Ruger BlackHawk .44s. I know were talking two different animals here, just making an observation. Barrel around 6 inches or so. Fixed sites. Blued with case coloring. kid

    Pietta .44

To be honest, I don't know the model. Took a real fast look at it. The tag didn't have a model on it either. I shoot modern standard cartridge handguns and have been wanting a blackpowder pistol for a while now. I would assume it's a "regular" model, whatever that would be. No real engaving and...

    Pietta .44

Local dealer has a Pietta in .44 on consignment. Wants $220, but I was told the seller is motivated. I'm assumming all I'll get is the gun, which seems to be in nice condition. I guess the owner probably thinks he'll get an offer of $200 or at least that's what he would settle for, of course...

    Tradgedy in Scranton

All the facts haven't been released yet, but a local gun dealer in Scranton was killed when a gun he was showing to a customer discharged. It was a .357. The article didn't specify what kind of gun it was, but I would assume it was a revolver due to caliber. He had a line of Taurus' in his case...

Should I buy an Inland M1 Carbine or Mini 14

I've got an Inland. It's seems to be all original, stock is even numbered. It's been used some. Not in rough shape, but it has marks of being in the field. The cheek area is worn more than the rest. Again not abused, but used. I bought it because it DID speak to me. All the other guy's looking...

Ammo Shortage merged threads, aka UberUltraMasterAmmoThreadOfPower

My wife works at Wally World and I've had her on alert for ammo. Myself also makes plenty of rounds thru that dept.... none to be found. I can't imagine the 7 o'clock crew waiting to scoop up all the ammo, especially since they now have that 2 box limit. They're just not getting any. I call BS...

    Got my permit

When I went for my permit, I asked my dealer what to expect. He said in his county, it would take all of 30 mins.. In my county, one over, it would take 45 days. 45 days is the allowable max. for getting issued a permit here in Pa. He said that the only check was the usual NICS check and that...

    Trading for a "Colt"

Well the guy told me it was a 3rd gen Colt, so I think I'll call him on it and reverse the deal. Afterall he made the effort and representation. I wanted a good BP. Like I originally stated, I was lusting for a ROA, not a POS:mad: kid PS Thanx for the input

    Trading for a "Colt"

OK, what kind of trouble did I get myself into? And why did Colt let someone get something on the market trying to defraud without a fight? A defrab? Like I said, I can live with a repro, but now I hear ASM is what, junk. My SKS wasn't. I may have to talk with this guy. kid

    Trading for a "Colt"

There are no other marks on it, other than the ones I talked about. The gun dosen't look refinished, so I don't think any numbers were polished off. It has oval notches on the cylinder. The Colts Patent is on the cylinder along with the Ogilvy roll mark. ADDRESS SAM L COLT NEW-YORK CITY on top...

    Trading for a "Colt"

I'm starting to get nervous. No numbers anywhere so far. No signature. It has Address Sam Colt New York City on the top block area. Also has Colt's Patent on the cylinder. Also found another 20 on the brass frame. kid
