    How to mount a wallhanger

My wife inherited an old BP rifle and I am curious how to mount it on the wall. I have no interest in firing it, her grandfather had used it for a wallhanger as well. I cannot for the life of me remember how the old man had it mounted above his fireplace. Anybody know of any special...

What difference does the material of the stock make?

I did a search for this topic, but couldn't find anything. What real difference does the material of a rifle's stock make? Is it pure aesthetics? What are the differences between wood, synthetic, kevlar, and laminated?

    Fixed chokes in shorter barrels

I want to get a shorter barrel for my 870 ExSuMag, (18"-20") but I would like to maintain the Remchoke system. Most HD length barrels I can find have fixed chokes. Am I chasing hen's teeth here or can I get a HD length barrel with removable chokes? *edit* Well Remington part number 24549...

    '98 Krag disassembly

I have searched the threads for this info as well as googling it, but can't seem to find it. I have a Springfield Armory Model 1898, and I can't figure out how to get the bolt out to clean it. I don't see any latch like a Mauser, and pulling the trigger, a la M-N, does nothing. Any ideas...

    Getting started with inherited rifles

I inherited a number of rifles a couple years ago, and I have been thinking about firing some of them. One is a Remington #1 in .50, and the other is a Poultney & Trimble 1857 Smith’s Patent in .50. What do I need to shoot BP? What should I do before firing these to ensure they are safe?

Tips on teaching a new shooter: a dilemna

I am not sure if this should go in General, Strategies, or Auto Handguns. I tried to find a thread that dealt with this, but couldn't. I am taking a friend and a couple females shooting in a few days. My buddy has been a couple times, the gals haven't shot before. The last time I tried to...
