Man you gotta have a long range frog sniping contest with airguns. I think that'd be just awesome. Scoped 1377 would be just great for that application. I've been thinking about getting one organized in the Philippines every time we go out but hasn't happened yet.
I have 2 now-one scoped and one iron sights. 10.5 gr pellets shot great out of both of mine. I would suggest doing the 22 LR case trigger mod. Really simple to do and my 2 are now down to ounces. Unbelievable how well it works. I did a lot of long-range MOA and mil calcs using the iron sight...
For my style of hunting (coyotes mostly) I absolutely have to have portability and hands-free system for walking long distances. Yesterday I hit 7.5 miles and 8 several days ago in prairie country. I use a taller (the next height down from the tallest) Harris swiveling bipod. Along with a...
I'm also into the SP's, and have many XP's and Savage Striker's in various calibers including some wildcats. I've recently also been applying an AR pistol for coyotes this season mainly for portability and have had very good results with it in the field so far. I'm considering seeing if I can...
take a look at the Pride Fowler offering. I have one of their 3-12X's that has objective parallax and a very good ballistic reticle that can be calcd for whatever trajectory you may be shooting.
May be helping teach some shooting in the PI, but it's a mostly metric country. Assuming they use metric for target sizes there...correct?...any Pinoy's running around dito?
I have a finer tapered crosshair reticle with a fine probably 1/8th MOA dot in a 6X Jap. Tasco LER scope that's on a Ruger Charger Kidd-barrelled setup i use for a walking prairie dogger, and I love it for this particular setup. But I really love subtention for shooting mostly and it's probably...
22 GT-love it bosing! Can't wait to shoot those coyote silhouettes soon pare (buddy)...and 5 days later in the Philippines shooting rats, ha!! ;)Life's still good!
I just shot a 3-shot group off a bench with short Harris in front, soft rear bag sighting a custom Savage Striker pistol 243 WSSM, <1" @ 225 yds. just yesterday. Almost always use a short Harris/rear bag setup for benchwork anymore. I admit to never testing accuracy/POI difference though...
I also have a Talon-P and love it. I shoot it like a specialty pistol, and have used it for a few prairie dogs and jackrabbits. Great system for some varminting.
BTW my buddy now has that Aspen noted above and he's killed 6 head shot rabbits in a row with those Eun Jins pellets at 35yds and less no misses...yet.
I'm 130 lbs on a heavy day, and use my hand pump all the time to pump up a benj. prod and talonp 25 to 3000. At first it was a pain but i guess i've gotten used to it.
Got a buddy who's using an older SFP 8.5-25X Leupold TMR reticle with a 1/2 mil subtension unit and an MOA turret. So we just recald his magnification to create a 2.0 MOA unit. I think it was 21X (1.7/2x25). Been awhile have to go back and ask him about it. Now he has a "MOA reticle/MOA turret"...
I picked up an Aspen Seneca on a whim at a pawn shop that had seen some use...but it held air and after testing it some I decided to try some heavy 22 Eunjin 28 grainers out of it and shot a .5" group with it at 50 yds., and have now found that it likes all the heavies i've fed it. Best 250 $ I...
Ernie has the best article ever published on long range specialty pistol shooting in Spring 2007 edition of Dakota magazine, entitled, "7mm Dakota". Watched him run 8 in a row I think it was at 585 on 10" steel plates at the '04 ITRC up in Gillette, WY with a 6.5-284 Greg Tannel XP. Never forget...
