    Yearly Gun Expenditure

I did the gun a month thing, I now have nineteen firearms, I reload for all of them so components and powder chew up a lot of cash for seemingly little in return. This year so far I have spent about a thousand on primers, brass, powder and projectiles for my Ruger 77/357. Let's just hope I...

What kind of gun would you want above all?

No4 mk1 Lee Enfield Enough punch for hunting pretty much anything and fast enough to hold off two legged predators, built for battle but smooth as a cheerleaders thigh :-)

    Foreign Tourists and Our Guns

I have had my parents visit from the UK and my Uber hippy sister stay for a week, all three enjoyed shooting my rifles(mum is 68), but the hippy sister had to go, she hardly missed anything in an offhand position, it was quite embarrassing for me :-) Her favourite of all of them was my...

Australia Sees Spike in Gun Crime Despite Outright Ban

GCA has about 5 members, they are a joke, but the media always gets them to spew their 2c. They are painfully ignorant of the things they want to ban. There was also a Senate inquiry into the inability of police to yada yada yada, long story short, they were drowned with stats that refuted their...

357 Magnum: Lever vs. Bolt Action

I have the 77/357 and a 1894c, both are fun. The 77/357 fed well on mine, I still polished the ramp on the Mag though with #2000 paper. The trigger is heavy, so consider the cost of having that worked on and the crown on mine leaves a lot to be desired asci can cut myself on it! They are...

Did you teach your daughters to shoot?

Not yet, she is four and loves to help with anything in the gun room, particular favourites are sticking a patch on a jag and reloading 357 Mag. I have my eye on a 452 for her when she is a bit older, as lovely as she is, I'm not about to trust her quite yet with a rifle.

    Sendaro vs 85 vs Accumark

I have four Sako's, until recently it was three. I received a small inheritance from my grandmother and wanted to buy something that would make me Happy for years to come. So, with cash in hand I went to a large LGS and looked at what I could get with around $3000 Aussie. I handled a Merkel...

Ahhh beauty, thy name is Rigby :)

    CZ 550 .416Rigby

No worries! I have also found that with Trailboss cast boolits fly best with min loads and jacketed Max. YMMV but its been consistent over a few calibres for me.

    CZ 550 .416Rigby

You lucky devil, I snagged a .375 a few years ago and was saving for a 416 just 'because' and now they don't import them in Aus :( Try some Trailboss in her, but don't lend it to anyone at the range or you won't get it back! Trailboss and cast is the cats meow for fun in a DGR.

    Hawks scope

I have a couple of them, a 3-9x40 for a high power spring air rifle (lots of scopes are destroyed on air rifles due to their forward 'recoil'. I was happy with the clarity and features. I recently took a 2-8x32 Zeiss Conquest off my CZ 452 and put a Hawke rimfire scope on it. Obviously there was...

    Winchester Wildcat .22 rifle?

I bought one a few years back secondhand. It is a very light rifle and accurate, or let's say as accurate as my CZ452 that I spent a lot of time with. The second stage of the trigger is a little heavy (and none adjustable) but not too bad, besides, I consider anything above 2lbs 'heavy'. It...

Building My Sons First Rifle -Pics of Progress

Very nice! I'm thinking of a rifle for my girl, she is 4 now and has a bow, but you know how it is :) I do have an early serial number Sako Vixen that needs a bit of TLC.

almost 3k on a rifle setup am I crazy?

I got a small inheritance so I picked up a Sako Grizzly in .308, Optilock rings and bases and after 6 months of dithering and ohh and arr ing at the LGS decided on a Leupold 1.5-4x20 VXR Patrol, I haven't shot it much, but I like to open the safe, admire her clean lines and pretty much say...

Keep feeding the big boy toy addiction

Hawke makes a 3-9x40 specially designed for HV .22 with ranging dots out to 200 yards. I have Zeiss usually on my centrefire and Hawke on air rifles as they cater to the air heads in the UK and account for 80% of scope sales there (airguns are very common in the UK as no license is required)...

I came to the conclusion today...

Getting a handgun here in Australia isn't impossible, its just a bit of a pain in the rump. I have been a rifle guy since I was 11starting with 10m Olympic air rifle. I moved around an awful lot in my adult life and lived in countries that either prohibited firearms or it was more trouble. Than...

Gibbs Rifle Co. might be bringing back 45-70 Enfields

Oh my! These would sell like hot cakes in Aus! Lots and lots of guys shoot pigs, there is a massive following for Enfields here and its a lovely rifle to boot. I have two No4's one a smelly and the other a mint Savage manufactured.

    2-groove rifling

There is an interesting article somewhere on the interwebs that documents research by IIRC Remington into the service life, accuracy etc of a 2 groove vs a conventional Enfield 5 groove. Long story short, they found no real advantage with the 5 groove for that particular application (Wartime...

where to search for older, used .375 H&H ?

Sorry, this does not add to your quest for a used rifle but I just hade to chime in because I love mine so much. Re: not shooting it much Ha! That will be as hard to do and the best way I found was to shoot reduced load hard cast, I use a commercially cast 250gn with 20gn of Trailboss and...
