    It hurts so good...

Most painful was 50 quick consecutive rounds of .44 mag through my Rugar Redhawk. I couldn't feel my right hand for an hour. Not gonna' do that again. I've shot a custom .45-70 revolver, but it weighed over 5 lbs. and a S&W 500 with a compensator. Neither of those was unmanageable or painful...

Most accurate sub $1,000 carry/combat pistol?

rellascout (and the Hickok 45 video) answers the question perfectly. It's almost always the Indian, not the arrow. Even when you take combat accuracy out of the equation and talk only about target accuracy almost all production guns can outshoot you. For under $1000 you have dozens of...

    Afraid of the Sig P220

Glad to hear it. Read my edit on my last post.

    Afraid of the Sig P220

rellascout, You need to relax and read posts more carefully. The information provided wasn't about Bruce Gray's production of extractors. Who cares? It was about the original extractor saga. A point of information if you will. And your claim about equally frequent across-the-line problems is...

    Afraid of the Sig P220

Easy there buddy. . . .:D First, the OP said his first pistol shot to the right. Didn't say anything about extractor issues. That was a problem most often seen on the early stainless (P220ST) models. A little research will show that almost all the internal extractor problems, aside from the...

    Afraid of the Sig P220

On a P220, I would bet that any reliability problems would be attributable to one of two things: improper lubrication or weak magazine spring. Left/right impact deviation is the easiest thing to correct. FWIW, I not only drift my SIG sights to zero them (get or borrow a SIG sight tool) but i...

USA SIGs quality not as good as in the past?

I own some of each. Stamped slide, milled slide, W. German, German, half and half, American made. My personal experience has been that they all shoot great and are reliable. I tend to think that SIG's new management push for a zillion models may have had an effect on QC but my main gripe with...

    Controversial Sig Slide Rattle

Most of my SIGs have reasonably tight slide-to-frame fits. My P226 Navy being the loosest. It is also very accurate. Try some TW25B or, better yet, Slide Glide and it will dampen the rattle. They're both fine lubricants.

    Pistol Grips - Sig

My Sigs all have lock washers. Funny though, Sig sells parts kits that come with 4 grip screws and no washers. Go figure. I've used Loctite (blue) to secure grip screws, but you've found some lock washers. Go for it. That Equinox is a nice pistola.

Out of the box 1911 Accuracy?

lexjj - Glad you like my 7-15-25 yd target. Thanks. The three targets were measured to look the same size at the three distances. At least that was the theory. I converted one into PDF format. It should print out correctly on regular 8.5 X 11 paper with the grid squares measuring exactly .5...

Out of the box 1911 Accuracy?

Springer Mil Specs have been very accurate for me OOTB. Fit and finish have all been excellent. I can't shoot 1" offhand groups at 25 yards with any of my pistols, including my Les Baer. But all my Mil Specs (3) will put 5 shots into around 1.5" at that distance when I am having a good day. I...

    SigSauer vs. Glock

I have both a Glock G19 and a SIG P239 in 9mm. Both are excellent weapons and you won't go wrong with either. I don't conceal carry so I can't give an opinion there. The P239 is softer shooting and a bit more accurate in my hands. If capacity is an issue, go with the Glock. But the magazines for...

My Astra Is Now A Paperweight.

Finally found the bullet. Waaaaay across the room where it shouldn't be, but was. I tried to push the slide off the frame and noticed some damage to the chamber that I hadn't seen before. Still won't come off and is hard as hell to move. Something is definitely broken. This puppy is toast. Too...

My Astra Is Now A Paperweight.

I took my old Astra Constable .380 to the range today. Along came one magazine that had been loaded some months ago with commercial ammo (I forget what, but probably PMC or Federal) and a new box of PMC. I inserted the full mag of older ammo and the first 3 shots were fine, but the fourth was a...

Most accurate handgun you've ever fired?

Some excellent marksmen here. Nice shooting. The most accurate gun I have fired is my Les Baer Premier II (see test target of 10 rounds @ 50 yards). But I could never approach that type of accuracy even off sandbags. The gun I have fired most accurately (single best target) offhand (for 10...

Help me pick out a "fun" 9mm

Most fun? Of the 4 types of 9mm I own (CZ, Glock, SIG, HiPower) plus several models of some makes, the SIG P239 in 9mm is hands down the most fun to shoot. Very mild recoil. Super accurate. Fun. Fun. Fun.

What "Unique" factory guns do you own??

Wow. Some of these guns are really impressive firearms. We've got some lucky owners on these forums. Thanks for sharing. The only one I have that remotely falls into the category of an unusual factory gun is my special run 4" S&W 586-7 (blued, 7 shot cylinder). One of 1000 in 4". 1000 in 6"...
