Glad to see 41 MAG leverguns in this thread. This is mine, a Marlin FG, took a 100 lbs whitetail doe with it last season using the old Winchester Supreme 240 grain Platinum Tip load.
Got my first 16ga, a single barrel Springfield around 1966, still like shooting and hunting with one today. Turkey, dove, quail, pheasant, and rabbit, all good game to use a 16 gauge on.
I agree, Case Knives once marketed a pocketknife named The Sidewinder. Snake names, model numbers, other fanciful names, really doesn’t matter as long as the revolver shoots accurately and dependably.
Thank you gentlemen! I don't care for synthetic stocks, either but I do have a few (AR15 and Ruger American) - guess there is an exception to most every rule.
The 41 Mag Blackhawk show above is the first one I have owned that came with factory plastic grips. I kept looking at them and decided they just didn't appeal to me, so I went fishing in my stash of parts and assorted junk. Came up with an older walnut set that fit great (another vintage NM...
I bought this 2011 era NIB NM Blackhawk with 4-5/8" barrel and chambered for the 41 REM MAG about three weeks ago. Haven't fired it yet, but have been digging out my handloads (we moved last summer and LOTS of stuff is still in boxes). Going to an indoor range this coming Friday, plan to shoot...
Not a new member but one who hasn't posted in years, still hunt, shoot, reload, fish, boat, etc. (all the usual outdoors stuff). Been getting settled in a retirement home (retired from the ARNG 19 years ago, but still haven't retired yet in my civilian job of selling building materials). I am...
I think it depends on what line stamps the brass. I have brand new brass, bought in the current plastic bags, that have the WIN headstamp and some that still uses the WW headstamp. Odessa
Are you sure it isn't a Sears Model 53? From your description it sounds like the Sears rifles from the mid-1960's which were essentially Winchester Model 70's in the push-feed design. If so a 22" barrel with a 1 in 10" twist for a 30-06 would be correct. If the rifle is based on the WIN M70...
DMK,
I have been a sales rep "down east" for the past 26 years, and travel the area extensively. While there is not an overabundance of public ranges there are enough to satisfy the need. You have been linked to the Dare County (Outer Banks) range above, moving south there is a nice range...
I just had a Douglas Premium grade barrel installed on my pre-64 Model 70 Featherweight, it used to be a .30-06, now it is a .270 WIN. Douglas was one of the few companies that would turn the original FW profile in a timely manner (8 days, including shipping time). I shot my first 20 rounds by...
Slick, Those are some slick revolvers! Nice photo's too.
As for me, I can't make up my mind so I have a M581, a M27-2, a Python, and am trying to re-acquire an OMBH I sold to a friend. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. I do prefer the medium frame size guns though, the M27 is a...
Here is my M629-3, its a Square Butt 5" Classic. I put a higher (.300) Weigand patridge plain front blade on mine (I shoot 300 grain bullets and needed more blade height). I also replaced those checkered S&W grips (ouch!) with some wood Hogue Mono-grips - much better handling now. My gunsmith...
I just ordered one of the new Lee Cast Iron single stage presses from Midway. There service has always been good; prices are okay, not the lowest or the highest but they have always been accurate in stating what is in stock and what isn't in stock. Odessa
