    .69 Caliber Spanish (Jakur?) Cannon

And for a little more fun give it a load of #6 (or so ) shot aimed at a group of balloons at 20 yards or so. We have a 1.1 inch bore set on a naval type carriage. When we are going to fire it numerous times in one day (4th of July) we use cut grass from lawn mowing. After each shot there is...

    375 Ruger / 375 H&H Pet Loads?

Good Morning We have several 375HH's and they all shoot our cast bullets from 220 up to 345 grains. Our favorite all purpose is an NOE 270 grain flat nose gas check sitting over enough 4350 to make 2300 fps. Have to write it that way as due to barrel length differences. The Browning single...

    Value?

I would kindly tell "the friend" that one day he will regret selling his dad's revolver. One day there will be a grandson who wants to see grandpa's stuff.

1894 Winchester with 3 digit serial number

A 3 number 1894 would be a nice add to any collection. And on a side note many museums "deactivate" the firearm. Pull the firing pin is an easy task on most long guns. I volunteer at a war museum and the firearms are incapable of firing one way or another.

    Zouave, good and bad.

Good morning Shot our first corn crunchers with our used Zouave Navy Arms we bought in 1982. Well over 30 bean eaters fed us nicely. Found it shot patched round ball nicely with 3F. 2F was OK but fouled much faster. If your's has the musket nipple you can still purchase a replacement that...

    S&W 13 question

Good morning We have had one around for some years. As brute strong as they are made I would clean it up, grease the insides and duct tape it to an old tire firing off a cylinder full of 158 grain full power loads using a lanyard. I seriously doubt you will hurt it but you will have peace of...

    357 Decision: Dan W. Or SW 686?

Good morning Another Dan Wesson vote. Easy barrel change. Any length you want. Set your own barrel gap. If you can wear out a DW you are shooting a lot ! Dan Wesson 357 we bought in 1978 is still shooting 3 inch groups at 100 meters with our 10 barrel. That is using that lay on your back...

    One great 788

Good morning Bought a 788 in caliber.243 over 35 years ago. Still have as it is still the best shooting bolt .243 we have ever owned. 70 grainers right through 100's. Only thing it dies not like are 60 grainers but will do OK out to 150 yds on ground hogs but the 70 grainers will do itty -...

Winchester Model 70 Alaskan vs Safari Express

Greetings We have a CZ 550 in 375 H&H. Bought it used for $500 and it was not used very much. WE do not have any "dangerous game" in east ILLInois (lots of rank dangerous lib-comys) but it is a fine rifle to carry about through river bottoms and woods edges stalking those vicious ground hogs...

Do you have both 3 inch and 4 inch revolvers?

Good evening In revolvers in our storage we have from SW model 36's out to a 8 3/4" Model 57. In Dan Wessons everything from 2" out to 10 inch. I Rugers 3" out to 7 1/2". Colt 2" out to 6" barrels. But I am 5000 miles from storage so photos are not happening.

I did something really stupid and now, I am paying the price.

Good morning How about a muzzle loading pistol. These "un-guns" are still a very viable protector.

    Oldest Rifle You Own

Good morning These previous examples are all well worth holding on to. Thank you everyone for taking the time to write and post photos. Does the heart good !! Our "oldest" is from about 1750. A caliber 40 flintlock smoothbore that probably was restocked about 1780. This is the only one I...

Ruger #3 what to rebarrel it to?

Greetings We have a #3 in 375 Winchester and it makes a dandy all purpose cart it about all day rifle. But a 330 grainer is about the limits even out to 50 yards. But a caliber 40 something (like the 40-65) would be about as versatile as any rifle I can think of for our US of A. You could...

    Bolt action .223/5.56 opinions

Good morning Been shooting a .223 Interarms (Birmingham) for some years now. Bought it used and we are very happy with it. Short action with a 22 inch barrel in real wood.

.338-06: The Song of the Sirens.

Good morning I have enjoyed reading all these as our next time north our Mark X Interarms 06 gets a different barrel screwed on in caliber 338 -06. Have numerous other 06's so it is not like we will not have one handy. 10 years ago bought a 375-06 and have no regrets. It is a JES rebore and...

I sure will give the Ammonia fumes a try one day. Have used BP "slurry" or just soak in a BP "wash" for years.

    Ruger 1 375 H&H

Good morning We have one. Heaviest cast slug we have used is a 340 GC slug at 1900 fps. It would be a great "stopper" slug for about 50 yards. At 100 out of our Ruger #1 it is not stable. I recon we could push it to 2200 fps but we have no large bears in East ILLinois. Not many black bears...

    Remington UMC 130 gr

Good morning Those are an option down here. We tend to pull the projectiles and insert our own 160 gr cast (range scrap) wadcutters. Far more accurate from our SW and Colt revolvers. The pulled 130's are then dropped in the hot pot and the lead melted out. Jackets are sold as copper scrap.

38 Special vs 357 Magnum - Snub Nose

Good afternoon I do enjoy a model 13-3 for carrying about. Has a 3" barrel with a home made "hip grip" . Shooting full power 357's off and on is not pain full as the Model 13-3 has the "bull" barrel. Mostly we shoot 38+P powered 160 grain cast in .357 brass.
