I have a 329PD which weighs out at 26.7 oz on my office postal scale. It is a joy to pack all day in the hills, and is a fun .44 Special shooter. But, when you light up a 240 gr or heavier full powered magnum it ceases to be fun. I usually shoot 'cowboy level' handloads through it and enough...
I don't have the 9mm but I do have the .40 S&W version. So far (about 500 rounds) the functioning has been fine. I can easily hit fist sized targets at ranges of 15 to 25 yards with it. I've been shooting mostly 165 & 180 gr FMJ, but as it's a revolver reliability with various nose...
Put me in with those who haven't had a problem with their PF-9. I own & have carried a Ruger SR9c, a Kahr CW40, J frame S&W, SP-101, Makarov, SA XD45c, Glock 19, KT P3AT, as well as bigger autos & revolvers. The one I find myself carrying the most is my humble PF-9. It works, it's thin, it's...
What rcmodel said!
Glocks are coming off the line daily.
When is the last time you saw a S&W 12 Airweight anywhere for sale?
For me, that's an easy question to answer.
Best.
I'm another fan of the Ruger decockers. It's a shame they don't make 'em anymore. I like the one Sig has but it's not easy to manipulate with the left hand and shooters w/ smaller hands / shorter thumbs cannot decock w/o repositioning their grip.
I have a Pitbull in .40 S&W, and have put, oh, about 200-250 rounds thru it so far. Got it for my birthday last month. It shoots to point of aim, fired brass extracts easily and the recoil is not bad. It kicks a little more than a .38 Special +P, but less than a .357 Magnum from my 3" SP-101...
The newer 329's come with a rubber grip that covers the backstrap and make it a little wider also. I have acquired a set for mine and they do make a difference in felt recoil. The 329 is still rowdy with magnums in it, but it's better with the new grip. Specials are no problem at all.
Just talking about handguns . . .
16 Ruger (10 revolvers, 6 pistols)
2 Smith & Wesson
2 Kel-Tec
2 NAA Mini
2 Taurus
2 Italian Cap & Ball
1 Springfield Armory
1 Glock
1 Colt
1 Kahr
1 Makarov
1 Tokarev
1 Nagant
. . . I think that's all at the moment.
I don't get time to go woodsbumming like I want to anymore, but my cantidates for PPP run through the list.
Ruger GP-100, 4"
Ruger Blackhawk .357, 4 5/8"
Ruger Blackhawk .45 LC, 5 1/2"
Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 RM, 4 5/8"
Ruger Vaquero .45 LC, 4 5/8"
Sometimes the Ruger Redhawk .44...
No one should be shy about owning a P-95. It's one of the few guns that I would carry for protection without a break-in. I don't like doing that with any gun, but I have shot enough P-95s to trust the reliability of them to that degree. I have 2 of them. One is an older decocker model with...
Everytime I'm empty! LOL!
But seriously, yes I've been reloading for about 25 years. I'd feel lost if I couldn't roll my own and had to depend only on what the factory puts out.
Location, location, location
Shot placement trumps everything else in defensive shooting. So, while the differences in recoil when examined by the numbers is interesting, the above poster summed it up every eloquently when he said the best load to use is the one that you shoot the best.
A .45-70
in some form. Preferably an original level load in an 'old-style' rifle for the nostalgia and then a heavy Garrett or handload in a modern rifle just to see what the grand old gentleman is really capable of.
