The only gun talk discussed at the Turkey table was my BIL busting my chops over buying a rifle chambered in .243win. You see, he hunts 120lb deer with a 338winmag and figures I'll lose every deer I shoot with a .243win because of its hyper velocity with a tiny bullet.
I run Falcon Bullet Company's Falcoated as well as cast and powder coat my own. I also shoot most of them out of factory glock barrels. They work fantastic. Those Falcoated are real nice though. I've actually been able to reduce charges by as much as 20% in some cases and still achieve the same...
I use a lot of XTP and during my redneck expansion test (5gal bucket full of clay and a stack of wet phone books) I've ran them as slow as 800fps and still got excellent expansion.
My preferred hunting bullet is a gas checked and powder coated 158gr LSWC. I load it with a healthy dose of Alliant's 300-mp powder for an average velocity of 1520fps out of a gp100. Deer flat die when smacked with that chunk of lead.
I'm a 10mm fanboy, ain't gonna lie. Love these kinds of vids. The XTP has been my favorite .400dia bullet thus far. I've done extensive redneck expansion/penetration testing with the bullet and have found it to be exceptional. I'm particularly fond of the 200gr version. I've ran it as slow as...
I bought the Rossi for my pops a couple years ago. It's been a very good gun so far. It may be the cheapest option dollar wise but it's not lacking in quality.
Yup, Remington is moving to Huntsville and bringing many of it's subsidiary companies with. Creedmoor Sports (as in 6.5creedmoor) has also moved to Alabama. With the gun manufacturers that have already came to AL, the ones that have started in AL (2 Vets Arms, Red Dot Arms, Meredith Rifles etc)...
So who has a Meredith Rifle? I've ran across a couple guys at the range that have had these insanely well machined rifles that were shooting lights out and one of them was even using factory ammo. I'd expect as much from a custom build but when they told me what they paid for them I was shocked...
That's eerily similar to a mount I had made for my old 94. Had a Simmons pistol scope on it for years. I kicked myself for letting the mount go with the rifle when I sold it. I feel better now that there's something like it commercially available for my next 94.
Just go buy a Savage LRP (Long Range Precision) in 6.5creedmoor and a few boxes of Hornady's Superformance ammo for it. It'll shoot lights out right out the gate. Then you now have fire formed brass and Hornady prints their data right on the box so you can duplicate the load for half the cost...
Check out the Mossberg 464 SPX. It's built to be suppressor friendly.

After reading six pages of "flops" I realized I own or have owned most of the "flops". The upside to owning a safe full 'flops' you ask? While everyone was panicking and wiping the shelves clean of ammo, brass and projectiles to feed their "favorites" and leaving many with nothing to shoot I...
Everything imaginable has already been covered but I have to toss in my two cents worth.
The Savage LRP right out the box with Hornady Superformance 6.5cm ammo has won a bunch of F-Class matches. IMO (and speaking from personal experience) The LRP is as good as 90% of the custom rifles built...
