Hi Everyone, disassembled a 7600 to change a broken extractor. Expected to just change out the clip style extractor only to find that this bolt has the rivet type. I thought the 7600's were all the new style. Was just wondering if some of the early models still had the rivet type or maybe the...
Hi sorry for the delay in the answer. It was not brazed but a silver solder. I heated and fluxed both parts then ran a wire brush across bot surfaces until clean. I then thinned bot mating parts before sweating them together. The product flowed nice and I even got a fine bead around the...
Hi, just a follow yup. I just finished shooting a box of trap loads thru my barrel. No problems at all and solid as a rock. I ended up using a Brownells product called High Force 44. Low melting point (425 deg) with high strength (25,000 psi) . Had to be precise as it wont take a bluing. Very...
We did call them and said they would only replace the barrel at a cost. But they no longer have the ported barrel. Ill try it and if it fails, well I will get a new barrel for it
Thanks. Ill let you know how it works out
I have a ported barrel and Rem no longer makes it. I have some $$ tied up in that barrel. I will try it with the sugestions you all gave me and if it goes bad, well then i guess its a new barrel. Main concern was getting a problem with the heat on the barrel.
Gas cylinder on a Rem 1100 came off the barrel. You can see where the solder did not take on better then half of the mounting surface. If I thin both surfaces and use a heat sink paste. Can I use 1200 degree solder without any change to the tempering of the barrel or the cylinder?
Thanks
Rob great report. I did in fact receive the rifle with both right extractors. I did change it over to specs from schematic. The cut in the bolt where the ejector fits into only lets it come up so high. Looks as though it could come up higher to kick shell out. But it is limited in this cut. I...
no, I tried it all ways. the best, which is barely. if I point the rifle up about 45 or more degrees it will let them clear out. But most of the time, just pop out of the extractor and lie on the next round in the chamber area.
I have a problem child. A Marlin Model 57 .22 WMR. It will not eject loaded or empties at all. it extracts fine. I have changed just about everything action wise, except the shell lifter, as I cant find one. And when I do, I will try that. On the rare occasion it does clear it barley makes it...
Thanks guys. I have been trying to find out about this gun using online stuff. It seems to be a missing link or something LOL. I will take your advice. I will try and get some better photos.
I wonder if any of guys know anything about this gun I have It has berlin on the left side of the barrel and a name I could only make out a P. Heil and then two symbols I think. And Special Stahl on the right of the top barrel. It is a 16 ga over what I believe is a 7.62 rifle. Beautiful...
Thanks . I have the tanks bolted together and fasten to the floor. Have a bottle of vinegar, and regular saline eyewash. Have to work on a shower. Have a fire extinguisher carbon / gas detectors. thanks for all the input guys. I appreciate all you knowledge, wisdom and experience. I will be...
Thanks guys. I have read pros and cons on both plug or no plug. I am not doing any parkerizing as of yet but plan to rig for that also. I certainly do not want a bore ruined by parkerizing and sure do not want a hot salt eruption if a plug blows out. I have not been asked to not blue the inside...
