    Win WXR

Rg1, Thanks much for the link. I found this booklet earlier, and while it does have good information, I was hoping to find a production manual with slightly more comprehensive loads.

    Win WXR

I recently bought a few pounds of Win WXR for $10 a pound at a local gun store sale. However, my recent Hornady and Lyman manuals have listed few loads for this powder, and the Winchester website was also not very helpful. I read a post that suggested that load data for RL 22 will work for this...

M1908 Brazilian Masuer Firing Pin Replacement

Wow, I had no idea there would be further modifications necessary to rechamber to 30-06. This rifle is something of an heirloom, so I am not going to permanently modify any parts. So, it seems, I will be looking only for a replacement 7x57 barrel. Unfortunately, the 3 or 4 places I checked so...

M1908 Brazilian Masuer Firing Pin Replacement

I found a firing pin at Numrich, thank you for your help. Now, to find a decent 7x57 or 30-06 barrel...

    Lyman O-Mag Ram Movement

243 Win, While not specifically addressing the movement of the ram, I still appreciate any information about these older presses. I had never considered reversing the movement, but I may look into that as I have a really cruddy table that wants to tip over when I put my shoulders into moving...

M1908 Brazilian Masuer Firing Pin Replacement

As a child I had a 1908 Brazilian Mauser, and I idiotically sheared the tip off of the firing pin. I have let the rifle sit for more than a decade, and am now interested in replacing the firing pin, but I need some information to find the right part. 1. Is the firing pin for the 1908 Mauser...

    Lyman O-Mag Ram Movement

RCmodel, Thanks for the info, but I am still somewhat confused as to the best way to set a die. You are saying that I should allow the ram to make a full stroke, which means it will rise and then slightly fall. To set a die, should I then find the highest level that the ram will go and set...

    Lyman O-Mag Ram Movement

I recently purchased a nice Lyman O-Mag press, which I believe is dated to around 1980. It has what seems to me to be an unusual linkage compared with my Lee Classic Turret, and it is somewhat perplexing. With my Lee press, when I move the ram handle all the way down, the ram moves as far up...

Lee 3-Hole Turret - Cracked Base

No, Lee is not reimbursing me for shipping from them or to them. So, really I am only netting a $5 savings. I use Hornady One Shot lube, but I think I know why the press broke: one of the roll pins may not have been fully seated into the ram assembly. I will obviously be more careful in the...

    8mm Mauser

I agree that a full manual is necessary, I mentioned the caliber specific load book only because the Lyman 49 skimps on 8mm load data. The little books are good as supplements to a manual, not as a replacement.

    8mm Mauser

The Hornady manual has 5 or so loads, but Midway or Cabelas sells a $6 book specific to 8mm. For loads, I like Varget with PVRI bullets: cheap and fairly accurate.

    Question about COL and cannelure

That's what I will have to do, but I am still interested in why the cannelure is placed so low on some bullets (by that I mean there is only a small amount of the bullet below the cannelure) when some bullets seem to be have one placed about half way along the bullet. Is it an efficiency thing...

    Question about COL and cannelure

I just bougt some PVRI Partisan 198 gr. FMJ BT bullets to load for an 8mm Mauser. Though I like PVRI bullets, there is no load data for them anywhere. I loaded a dummy round and used a Lee FCD to crimp on the cannelure. The problem is that the COL is 3.16", which is longer than any load I have...

Lee 3-Hole Turret - Cracked Base

Just an update: After I bought the replacement base ($15), I called Lee and told them what happened. They told me that if I sent the broken base back, they would refund the cost of the new base. Also, the new base took only 2 days to arrive, and I am already back in action. Thanks to...

Lee 3-Hole Turret - Cracked Base

I probably should have waited, but I read the warranty (2 years or 1/2 purchase price for repair) and didn't think I would have any luck. Also, I don't want to be without a press for any length of time or I will have to buy factory ammunition again. I will call Lee tomorrow and talk to them...

Lee 3-Hole Turret - Cracked Base

I have an older Lee 3-Hole Turret press that I have used to reload about 3000 rounds in the last month. After some 30-06 to 8mm resizing and a few other strenuous tasks, the base cracked all the way through on the right side, around the ram roll pin. I ordered a new base from Lee (for the...

    Flash Hole Uniformity

Again, I am very impressed with the information posted in this thread, thanks very much. I wish I had joined this forum years ago. For what I am using my pistols for, I am relieved to find that the difference in flash hole size between brass manufacturers will not be a problem. Luckily, my...

    Flash Hole Uniformity

While I was loading some mixed brand .357 SIG brass this evening, I noticed that the flash hole on Remington brass was considerably tighter than the other brands I was loading (Federal, Winchester and a few Speer). My question is: how much of an impact would this restricted flash hole have on...

Reloading Manuals Thanks everybody, you have given me some excellent information. I just bought a 49th Ed. Lyman for $20.

    Recommended Reloading Manuals

Reloading Manuals rcmodel, I actually used the 175 gr. Sierra load from the Hogdon website when I made up my first batch of the 8x57. I am leaning toward the Lyman manual, I am happy to hear it is worthwhile. Thanks for the input.
