I have a modest collection of John Browning's commercially produced guns, including Winchester, Colt and Remington's. I am about halfway there. But as a side-note, I started collecting Winchester rifles built after Browning's falling out with Winchester to include the Winchester 1907, 1910...
I started a thread a while ago that devolved into a discussion of the early Winchester auto-loading rifles. (05, 07 and 10) I thought a new thread would be appropriate.
I have a first year production Model 10 in 401 wsl. The wood was rotten and the receiver looked more like a rusty farm...
I am a new owner of an 81 in 35 Rem. At first, the magazine would only hold four rounds; the fifth would cause most of the other rounds to erupt out of the top of the mag.
I slightly bent the magazine springs to just barely hold five loaded 35 Rem rounds. I've run into conflicting information...
For me it was 401 Winchester Self-Loader. It took a while to track down an 80 yr old die set, then cut, expand and fire-form brass cased 7x39. And finally, to track down some .406 bullets. Oh, and some really ancient load data.
I also reload 348 Win and Win 45 Magnum.
I used to volunteer as an RSO for a busy outdoor shooting range. I saw some pretty odd behavior most days but occasionally someone would do something extraordinarily stupid;
Like the time a shooter walked out in front of a live firing line to change his target.
What memorable experiences can...
Santa put two new 380's in our stockings this Christmas. My wife got a Sig P238 blk with Tritium nite sights, I got a new production Colt Mustang Pocket-lite (aluminum\stainless)
Initial fit and finish:
Both were fairly equal, no obvious machine marks inside or outside. The P238 feed...
I have a friend that just purchased an old 1911 complete in the box with manual. It looks like a post WWII civilian model - pre '70 series, but the serial number 333243c dates to 1918. What's the scoop?
I am having trouble finding published load data for 348 Win and Reloader19. I have lots of internet "user" loads that I would like to verify but so far have had no luck in cyberspace. Many people think R19 is the best powder available for this cartridge. I found a supply of R19 that was too...
The book is Hornady from the mid '70s. i am sure I could cross reference the loads shown for 348 Winchester, but none of my other reloading books have 348 Win listed. Which came first, IMR or Hodgdon? I'd love a history lesson on 4895. Thanks in advance...
I've got an '03A3 that shoots into a nickle sized hole at 50 yds. My problem is the rear sight adjustment. Currently it is shooting 1" to the left, but just 1 click right moves the impact 2" so it is shooting 1" to the right. I thought the WWII rifles were supposed to move the impact 1MOA per...
I just picked up 200 pieces of 401sl brass and some Hawk 250g jacketed bullets from Buffalo Arms.
For the last couple of years I have been using 210g cast and 200g jacketed over 27g of 4227. According to published loads, I am getting around 1900fps. More importantly, this load cycles...
I just wanted to brag a little. Who says there are no great deals at gunshows. While admiring an old Savage 99 in 250-3000, I noticed a sporterized 1903 springfield. I know they are almost a dime a dozen. Before I left, I happened to look at the receiver stampings and I noticed they were...
In the pictures attached, I have some 30-06 brass that have been reloaded and trimmed between 2x and 4x.
These have all been shot in a Garand at moderate velocity (2620fps). I noticed a shiny ring around the brass 1/4" from the rim. Most of my '06 ammo has this.
I have several questions...
This sounds like a cheap personal add, but what am I to do?
I am fairly new to Washington state and would like to find others that like to shoot, reload and/or collect guns. My wife, while supportive, does not share the same enthusiasm. PM me if you need a shooting partner or would be...
