    Marlin 60W-22LR

I think they reduced the barrel from 22" to 18" in the mid 80s. You can find the date of manufacture by subtracting the first two digits of the serial number from 100. So for example, my Glenfield 60's first two numbers are 24, so it was manufactured in '76.

Observed some burglars in the dark

Nope, I've been wanting to get a handgun eventually, but what with the cost of guns now plus my families uneasiness around them, it's just never panned out since I mostly just have the .22lrs to go plinking and can do that all I want.

Observed some burglars in the dark

Heh, no, these were all grown adults. I've seen kids riding around on their bikes on a hot summer night before. This was a different thing. I didn't really know what was going on at first, I just thought it was weird they were lingering around, splitting up when cars drove by, and then as I...

Observed some burglars in the dark

Well, I didn't really want to write a novel and bore you guys so I left out a few details... So... 1. Didn't really leave my side porch/drive-way. The drive is literally right beside the porch, and then on that corner is a tree/bush. 2. Never followed anyone, was just already standing in the...

Observed some burglars in the dark

Hot last night, so I went out on the side porch to sit out in the fresh air. All I had on was my shorts and being modest I turned my porch light off so no one could see me. Didn't expect anyone to be out though since it was already 10:30 As soon as I open the door and sit down, I notice a...

Trying to decide on new state

I can't believe no one has yet mentioned Washington. Lots of outdoors activities, your pick of desert or evergreen forrest. Only thing I don't know is how our economy compares to other state's. We have the highest minimum wage in the country if that says anything...

How loud are high velocity .22lr?

I think I am going to get some of those electronic muffs. I like to be able to hear what is going on around me. I do wonder if they will effect how my hold on the rifle, maybe rub up against the butt... I hope I haven't done too much damage already. Been out shooting for a few hours at a...

How loud are high velocity .22lr?

What is the difference between the shooting muffs and ear plugs? Also, I hear they have noise-canceling ones or something like that where they still allow you to hear when a shot isn't going off. Do you guys know anything about these?

How loud are high velocity .22lr?

Yeah, for sure. I couldn't find much but a video suggesting they were 84 dB and that didn't seem right to me. I really need to invest in a good pair of shooting glasses too. I try to use the over-the-glasses ones, but sometimes they just get so foggy I get frustrated and take them off. :/...

How loud are high velocity .22lr?

Not to offend anyone, but I was really interested in finding an actual dB level, anyone know where to find it? I was a machinist and am already deaf in my left ear, so I kinda had a whim to check for sure when I got to playing with a dB meter app on my cell phone. Haven't had a chance to use...

How loud are high velocity .22lr?

All right, I was told by someone recently that .22s were not loud enough even with sustained shots, but saw an article in hearing-loss magazine that had a table of various rounds and I think it said? .22. were 90-100 dB and I know that is too high to be sustained...

How loud are high velocity .22lr?

Is there anyone knows the decibel levels of high velocity .22lr rounds out of a rifle barrel? I'm wondering if I should start wearing hearing protection?

    benchmade knife sharpening

I also believe that it is a skill worth investing in to learn to sharpen yourself. You really don't need anything but a coarse and fine hone. Personally I use a waterstone, but the Smith's or DMT diamond hones they sell in hardware stores are what I would reccomend to people. After that...

If you were out hunting and saw somthing that looked like Bigfoot

Speaking realistically it would be bad to take a shot like that at anything... Just because its existence is in question, I think you would be in some trouble for just hunting one like that. Look what happened to the guy that shot a polar/grizzly hybrid on accident. As for people walking in...

    22 lr penatration @ 300 yrds

Hey, out of curiosity, did you calculate these BC figures yourself? I got my figures out of a chart on RFC, it would be nice to get the corrected BCs. It seems like the JBM balisitics library uses the same figures I saw on RFC though too...

martysport, What program are you using? I'm using Hawk's ChairGun Pro and using figures from .22LR... I thought 70 sounded a little high too, so maybe it's not calculating it accurately or something. Edit... Just tried the same calculations with jbm's online calculator since that's probably...

Bear in zoo biting lady - do you intervene with firearm?

I guess if you folks were doctors and had to treat a motorcycle accident victim that wasn't wearing his helmet, you wouldn't help him? The guy that gets cancer after smoking cigarettes all his life doesn't deserve treatment? I find the whole attitude of, "Oh, they were too stupid, they don't...
