OP's question about Hi-point 45 case.....the HP 45 (and all of their guns) use a direct blowback system depending on the obscenely heavy mass of the slide to delay the extraction of the case. Not a common operating system in larger calibers except
sub-machineguns where the bolts are the massive...
No, the length specifically wasn't, but the whole pucker factor going foward. I reached the limit of my trust in the steel. Also, I got tired of keeping track and satisfied myself with what I learned. Good luck with the project!
This input is not indication of anything more than two cases. Got me thinking about a Tula STEEL case I wanted to see how many times I could reload. 10 times till I decided to call it. No problems after inspection. Second case is a once fired brass PMC 230 gr. Make any conclusion you feel...
It's all about the caliber, not where the gun is made. 25, 32 and 38 acp are all "semi-rimless" and headspace on a barely there rim. There is actually a tiny recess in the chamber. The best explanation I've read has been the Headspace chapter in Hatcher's Notebook. It's a must have book imho.
Maybe not so much desperation as self-awareness? If you have more money then time, to wait for prices to decline, or spending the time on the search....you may want to spend it reloading or shooting. The older I get the more valuable my time is. I want to spend it doing the things I enjoy...
To satisfy my curiosity, I reloaded one particular 45 acp Tulammo steel case. I am up to 10 reloads. Lubed and inspected carefully each time. I think I am done with the experiment. Most recipes were starting loads. Won't be a regular thing but it can be done. YMMV and "I am what you may call...
I concur with the prevailing opinion. S&B IS harder to size and prime, so much so that I prefer to segregate by themselves. Consistency in movement and effort makes my reloading sessions go better. One Shot, even with carbide is the bomb....uh-oh, there I did it... DHS now has me on its radar. ;-)
Don't worry about me, it gives me the perfect opportunity to get that new high tech
Taurus Curve. It will fit perfectly in the back pocket of my striped bell bottoms.
I got all excited by everyone's good luck and decided to check the back of one of my ammo shelves. All I found was three boxes of .380.....especially disappointing when I remembered that I don't have a .380 pistol.
Han Solo, Star Wars?
“Battle is the Great Redeemer. It is the fiery crucible in which true heroes are forged. The one place where all men truly share the same rank, regardless of what kind of parasitic scum they were going in.”
Lucked out this morning on Midway and got a box of spp (limited to one), also added a lb of Titegroup just to cost average the hazmat and shipping a little.
Just recieved yesterday 500 124 gr. pulled HST's from American Reloading that I ordered on April 12. I don't know if they still have in stock. Second box I got from them in the last 6 months or so. Very happy with them and the deal.
Not so much with the box of Gold Dots they had earlier this...
On a 1 to 10 scale, how bad is this ar barrel? This is my first complete build. Used inexpensive components, (in case I screwed it up bad) and now have around 1000 rounds through it. Cleaned it after each 30 to 60 round range session. Used bore snakes, rod, brushes and patches with a clp( I...
Follow up....
Decided to pull down 10 of the 70 remaining rounds. 6 of the 10 were right on(4.6 gr.). 1 was .3 over,
2 were .2 under, and 1 was .3 under. These results didn't deter me and I decided to shoot the remaining 60 rounds today. No malfunctions and all cases looked fine. A couple...
