    The purge

I wouldn't call what I did a purge, but I sold off some the last two years. Mostly stuff that I no longer wanted or had no personal interest in. Most were also impulse buys that I no longer wanted. I mostly used the proceeds to buy better guns that I wanted.

    Looking for a new rifle...

I have a CZ Scorpion. It shoots decent and hasn't given me any trouble. However, I also have a Kalashnikov KP-9. I like shooting it a whole lot better. The KP-9 is a little more expensive, but I like it. My CZ model has the 8" barrel so it is a little larger than some.

Gathering opinions on what to do with this Belguim made Hi-Power...

To me, it would be about the value of "never shot". If you can unload it and buy a shooter, that makes sense to me. If "never shot" has no value, I think I might go ahead and shoot it. I am trying to get a Beretta M9A4. I cannot imagine never shooting it. However, it is not a nearly 4...

    Multi caliber hunting/bug out kit

One option to consider is a Kel-tec SU-16. The model I have comes with a folding stock and it is very, very light. An AR-15 would be a better all round gun, but the lightweight models are often much more expensive than the SU-16. There are other 223/5.56 options also. Most of the non-AR...

No such thing as jerking the trigger?????

I have heard it suggested that a smooth trigger pull is more important than sight alignment as far as accuracy goes. I have to agree with that. I wish I had put more emphasis on my trigger pull with dry fire practice when I was younger. It probably would have helped me out a lot. Took me a...

Gun gadgets that you can't believe you lived without?

I would second the previous posts about gunsmithing tool kits with the precisely sized bits. Makes it easy to work with the screws on guns without worrying about slipping and scratching something. Mine is a Wheeler set and I have another small set. The electronic ear muffs are good, but I...

    Suppressor…Piston on a rifle?

As I understand it, you will just beat up your suppressor leaving the spring in place. One option to consider is removing the booster and just using a direct mount threaded adapter. They are often not that expensive, but may be more than the spacer cage. I haven't priced them in a while.

    Ruger Customer Response Time?

I don't remember having to send something back to Ruger. Dealing with various companies over the years, I think my experience ranges from a week to 3 months.

Is there a sub moa 5.56 semi auto that isn't an AR15?

I have shot an RDB and an SU-16. Never used more than a red dot or iron sights. So I don't know. I still look at sub-MOA rifles as a special level of accuracy. Maybe that makes me old. A lot of AR's come that way with the right ammo. I am usually happy with a consistent 2-3 MOA that...

    Ammo at Wal Mart...

Buy it cheap, stack it deep. Something to remember if prices settle down later this year.

    Want the best suppressor

Agreed. Their suppressors aren't too expensive and they have a good selection of muzzle devices available. A less expensive way to get started with a QD rifle suppressor and the weight is pretty good.

    Want the best suppressor

I have found that I don't necessarily need the quietest can especially for semi-auto stuff. I just need something to knock the sound down and take the edge off. I have also found recently that back pressure can make a big difference. I still wear hearing protection normally. Even a small...

    Marlin 336 ammo question.

10 or 12 years ago when I bought a 30-30 Marlin, I was considering 35 Remington. I decided against it as I didn't reload and 30-30 was more common. 35 Remington ammo was there, but less of it. I would suggest just being patient. When you do find ammo, get enough so you don't have to worry...

Biggest Regrets. Stuff you wish you never sold

I sold a PSA 11" AR pistol build. It worked well. I only regret it because I sort of want another one or something similar to a Mk18 build.

    Brownell's BRN-180 upper

Thanks for the write up. I saw the FM15 emails from Brownells, but didn't know much about it. I was eyeing the new BRN-180 sport upper for 2022, but may have to look at this one also.

    Optic for SDS Imports T02?

Similar to the Vortex, the Sig Romeo MSR is often on sale under $100. Seems to have decent battery life and is holding up so far on my KSG. I recently bought some slugs to play with, but I haven't tried to use them with the red dot at the range.

    4.6 X 30 mm Ammo??

It just seems pretty underpowered to go spending well over $1500+ for a semi-auto pistol carbine. If I could get the full auto version, that makes a lot more sense. For semi-auto, I might as well go for a 5.56 pistol (or something similar) that has a little more power per round and still...

    Have suppressor laws changed recently?

On pricing, the cheapest rifle suppressor I see these days is the Witt Machine suppressors ($200 to $300). They do pretty good for their size. The Liberty Constitution and Yankee Hill Turbo are in the $300 to $400 range. With the tax stamp, that still only gets you to $500 to $600. So you...

    Have suppressor laws changed recently?

Shooting with a suppressor at the range just isn't the same as shooting out in the woods (a private range) with no other noise. I just enjoy it. Most larger centerfire rifles will still be a little loud with supersonic ammo, but taming the rifle's blast makes a lot of difference to me. One...
