Trunk Gun: Smart Investment or Bad Idea?

My particular situation would be if a BIG quake hits and all the roads are blocked. In that case, depending where I am it might take a day - or two - to walk home. There, in addition to a "get home bag", a small rifle/handgun could be used to shoot food or for defense. A .22 rifle is far more...

Trunk Gun: Smart Investment or Bad Idea?

I went back and checked, and the OP never said that it was a handgun... just sayin'

Trunk Gun: Smart Investment or Bad Idea?

I thought it would be good to have one in the car, especially if you work far from home. Around SoCal, it's not out of the question that you might have to walk a LONG way home in th event of The Big One (I'm assuming everyone already has a Get-Home Bag.) On the other hand it would suck having it...

    personal safety in dangerous countries

When someone gets shot (here in the U.S.) it always seems to involve: late night, partying, alcohol/drugs, and testosterone. Part of me feels sorry for them, but I can't help wondering what they were thinking, putting themselves in situations with a high likelihood of that happening? What...

What Auto Shotgun would you suggest?

Another advantage of a simi-auto is that there's no rack to slide, making it more user-friendly to family members if need-be.

    Only One, Period!

Not going to happen. I think the guns on the WWII battleships only went 20 miles or so :P

Is there a good site for gel reports?

Just be cautious about accepting the data as conclusive. As has been reported many times, how it hits, what's being worn, and shot placement can override how it appears to do in a block of gel.

    Kabooms! (Tons of pics)

MachIVshooter, I agree with everything you said, but reloading is something of an exception in today's nanny culture. That is, you do have to be careful, and you do have to concentrate, and you do have to doublecheck everything. We simply aren't conditioned to do that anymore and instead expect...

    Kabooms! (Tons of pics)

A surprising amount of AR15 "grenadage" though I guess it's just due to how many are in use. Out of all the incidents, I wonder how many were due to incorrect reloads.

Interesting comment at the local gun store today

Yup. Think of being in someone's home and offering advice to another guest at the dinner table about the meal that the host is serving.

Australian Olympic Swimmers in Hot Water over Gun Photos

USPS Priority- Why do businesses not use ?

Odd the differing answers. I have to side with USPS working okay for me, but I also agree that the on-line tracking is just barely above useless. Oh, it tells you where it WAS just fine, and seems to run about a day behind. As was said above, I've received stuff and the tracking info still...

Just admit it... you bought some 'Zombie Bullets' didn't you!!

No. It's about the most stupidly thought-through advertising stunt ever, and regardless how much money they make, it gives gun-owners yet another blackeye.

Would You Carry At A Funeral?

Why even ask, either you're okay with it or you aren't? People carry at church which seems roughly the same.

    Noise - 18.5" 12-gauge shotgun vs. 14.5" 5.56 rifle

You can always wear the electronic muffs; they can actually make your hearing more sensitive but still cut out the noise peaks.

What are the great guns for $365 and under?

I'm building a car from scratch the same way... stopped cable TV and Starbucks... it adds up! You can always just keep saving for something better - who says you have to buy something now?

My Experience with the PA State Police Over Memorial Day Weekend.

So having the cop see a gun in the glovebox that you're reaching into is of no concern because you don't need a permit? Common sense says to give the guy a heads-up, and so that you don't get yourself on the news as "the suspect was shot as he reached for his gun." But hey, if you don't need a...

My Experience with the PA State Police Over Memorial Day Weekend.

Gee, what a boring story. I hoped it would be another scenario that paints all LEOs in a bad light. Seriously, thanks for posting this. It helps - in a small way at least - to balance out the disproportionate posts that have nothing but bad things to say about LEOs.
