    nearsighted newbie needs help

"I’m looking into motion detectors I can place in the yard which will indicate an alarm condition inside by some sort of enunciator, slient or audible or both. And a monitored system perhaps following that." Back in '08 when gas prices hit 4 bucks I got a "Voice Alert" wireless alarm. It came...

Is it okay to store guns in a hot garage?

"I live in north Texas and store some of my ammo in the garage. Some of it has been there almost 20 years, yeah I don't shoot that caliber alot but I once did, and it still goes bang like it is supposed to." My dad lived in the Panhandle and kept a good bit of shotgun ammo in an unheated...

Ankle Holster for Smith 442- Alessi or Galco?

I'm trying to decide between an Alessi ankle holster and the Galco "Ankle Glove". Anyone out there who uses either of these two holsters? I have a locate on the Alessi @ 160 + shipping. The Galco is at Arizona Gun Runners at 72 + another 20 or so for the calf band. It seems to me the...

    Press recommendation

I like the Square Deal for pistol. Since I started with a CoAx, I still use it for rifle and small runs of pistol (working up loads). I have Square Deal tool heads for 9mm, 10mm and .45ACP After loading on the CoAx for a number of years, I felt the first run of 9mm off the Square Deal...

    Best Case Trimmer

I could have paid for at least half of my Giraud with all the gizmos I've tried. They've ranged from Wilson/Sinclair (beautifully constructed but slow) to a Forster product for use on a drill press (total botch). If you ever order a few thousand once-fired from brassman, etc., and imagine...

What 9mm luger will do to a solid oak stump at 35 feet.

Sir, At some point you may want to rid yourself of that stump. Add one measly millimeter to your nine, and you can remove the stump and most likely pull up the roots as well. S&W Model 610-2 Just be careful the roots haven't spread to your foundation. When they come up your house may...

Coyote warning for pet owners; are you carrying?

A few years ago someone's little fru-fru dog was mauled pretty badly by a yote. The owner saved it but spent big bucks on its repair. I put an infrared detector near my driveway for gas/catalytic converter thieves, but so far I've only picked up cats, an armadillo and a big hawk ambushing a...

    Back to simple?

Regarding the little key holes on revolvers, I'm with you. Won't own one. Other than that, anything goes if it makes holes repeatedly in the same general neighborhood.l

What do you treat your leather holsters and belts with to keep them happy?

My Versa MaxII IWB will get a dull milky appearance after a time. I clean it with saddle soap and rub in a small amount of Ross Leather Dressing I got from Brownells. This brings it back to a like new condition.

    Anti-Gun Boards?

That's a good point. After a high power match at my range conversation turned to politics and the "what will you do when those liberal Democrats" etc., etc.,. One guy said, "Well I"M a liberal Democrat, and no one's taking MY Garand!" Although gun grabbers may TEND to be of one political...

Are you a cook or a rifleman - 9 shots will tell

I have been to two Appleseeds. I found them extremely helpful, as did the other participants I talked to. The setting can be a big factor. I went to the Steel City range in Birmingham- great facilities. I got to shoot @ 400 yards and held a group aroung 18"x 18" with ammo I loaded. When I saw...

Dickson City, Pa Police Harass Gun Owners

Any lawyers around? IF oc is legal in Pennsylvania, then how about USC TITLE 42 > CHAPTER 21 > SUBCHAPTER I > § 1983 Civil action for deprivation of rights Every person who, under color of any statute, ordinance, regulation, custom, or usage, of any State or Territory or the District...

If Heller Decision Acknowledges A Right - Will ACLU Become A Willing Supporter?

My reply to her would have been, "Ah, the 6,000,000 Jew strategy. Nice" My greater concern is if the court says, "Turn them in, Mr. and Mrs. America." That will not end well.

How will the recession affect gun purchases?

Probably negativly. The rising cost of energy is like a tax. It must be paid. I pity the people in the North East who heat with fuel oil. This winter is going to be a bitch. Add the general rate of inflation, grossly understated for years by the government, and there you have it. (Yesterday they...

Handgun firing strategy... eyes open (one or both?)

Both eyes open, but I squint my dominant left eye a bit when shooting right handed. Practicing left handed I leave it open and shoot a little better than right handed.

How do I clean the cylinder of my S&W PC N-Frame without polishing smooth the finish?

I use one of the lead removal cloths. Not Birchwood Casey- "RIG"? It's yellow, sort of a flannel texture with a slight oily feel. It does a fine job on stainless, but is NOT to be used on blued firearms. I cut a 2" patch and it cleans cylinder face, chamber, I even run it down the barrel when...

What ammo does your GP-100 eat?

I'm glad I read this. I worked up a load with some LaserCasts, 158 grain semi wadcutters. The more H110, the SLOWER the chronograph read (10 rounds each weight). I think the Lasercasts are so hard the base was obdurating less and less. My theory anyway. The best group was 15.5 grains, average...

    Optics or Irons?

I have various optics for a FAL and ARs. But I use and practice with iron sights the vast majority of the time. Sort of like that with bipods. I'll get one but rarely use it. At least up to now. Maybe later.

    Reloading 9mm for Glock19

How would the Glock differentiate between commercially loaded ammo and handloaded ammo, correctly done? I've loaded for my G20 for going on 4 years. I've used the stock barrel for FMJs and an aftermarket button rifled barrel for lead. I typically get the best groups at from 80 to 90% max load.

Wisconsin co-ed dials 911; dies anyway

I have wondered if you wouldn't be better off stating........ "FIRE! FIRE at 123 Apple Road- I think it's ARSON!" They may be more concerned about property than you. Any type of approaching sirens would be better than none.
