Nice pistol. I've had good success with Berry's plated 230 grain RN bullets and CFE Pistol powder in my Springfield Mil Spec.

    Dillion verses Hornady

I've met several of the Dillon Blue Press cover girls. Never met a Hornady equivalent. I would just stay with the Dillon until Hornady catches up.

    .223 Rem

Your gun will let you know what it likes and you will likely end up trying a lot of different bullets. My Kimber Longmaster Classic doesn't like mid-weight bullets 50-60 grains. Shoots these more like a pattern than a group and during load development I thought I had purchased a POS rifle...

Ugh! Cleaning some of my Pistols today...

He does have good taste. I especially like that CZ.

    45-70 Reloading

I have some loads using Reloader #7 and 520 grain bullets. Not pleasant to shoot. Personally I would not try the 730 grain bullet.

    45-70 Reloading

I also have a Guide Gun, mine is factory ported. I've shot just about every combination of stuff there is. I keep coming back to H-4895 with a Hornady 350 grain RN bullet for hunting and I cast my own 340 grain bullets for plinking. Trail Boss sounds interesting. I may have to try developing...

Educate me ... SA Mil Spec 1911 after market magazines

Do you have a pic of a dimpled feed ramp?

Educate me ... SA Mil Spec 1911 after market magazines

Another question for the group. Aside from capacity, is there a physical difference between 7 and 8 round mags from the same manufacturer that would give one a performance/reliability edge over the other?

Educate me ... SA Mil Spec 1911 after market magazines

This is exactly the kind of info I was hoping for. Thanks and keep it coming. It helps me narrow my choices and I benefit from the experience you folks offer. Do your comments pertain to the Springfield Mil Spec that I bought or are you asserting a generalization?

Are you thinking you can go to Walmart any time you want. My local Walmart discontinued sales of any ammo that works in a semi-auto.

So during the revolution or purge or whatever you want to call it. Your local resistance/militia supply has cases and cases of 9mm and 45 acp but no 40 or 38 Special or anything else. At least you can stay in the fight with a gun that has ammo available. Same thinking with rifle ammo...

    I have conformed ...

Two revolvers (357 and 44 special) and a Taurus Millenium 40 S&W that I lost to a safety recall. None of which I still own. I don't count rimfire in the mix. My favorite is my Beretta 96 in 40 S&W. I also like the wife's S&W 38 snubby.

Educate me ... SA Mil Spec 1911 after market magazines

I picked up my first 1911, the Springfield Mil Spec. I see the manufacturers SKU number P16074 for the factory magazine. It's 8 rounds. How do I tell which after market magazines will work with my gun? Can someone recommend a specific magazine to me?

    I have conformed ...

I don't think I will buy dies for the 9mm. Probably just buy bulk. The 45 on the other hand I will definitely roll my own.
