Quick shout-out to Tyler manufacturing; good service

You're fortunate. I've made several purchases from them in the last couple of years, service was pretty slow. But, speedy service wasn't critical to me. I'm just glad this fine product line is still available.

    Body Armor For Civilians....

I, too, am skeptical that in the event that there is a home invasion I'd have time to "suit up". That said, I think having BA, if one can afford it, is a prudent investment. I can readily envision a time when crime rates and general lawlessness may far exceed what we have now. Should that...

How long until prices return to normal on guns

Sooner rather than later the "economic stimulus" will generate very high rates of inflation. Then the price of everything will go up. Under such circumstances comparing prices becomes something of an academic exercise.

Dog went after my kid - 1 year later

I'm glad everything worked out so well. Though according to some folks it is a miracle you were able to stop/kill the GS with a "mere" 9mm.

    Sick of Airsoft

No. But I am sick of people who can't manage a google search and then whine about the poor results.

Is a 20" barrel sorta long for home security?

The only negative is if you have to maneuver in really tight quarters. :) Not something I would worry about.

anyone else feel uncomfy around people who look like "gun nuts?"

Dressing as a commando wannabe doesn't appeal to me. Nevertheless, people aren't obligated to dress so as to not make me feel "uncomfy".

    Actual Shootout against armed killers.

. I'm from Massachusetts and I'd see them as fighting words if they were directed at me. ;) But, calling someone a liar from behind a screen name is a low risk endeavor.

    Gun manufacturer stickers on car

It's not just criminals I want to avoid but police also. I live in a jurisdiction hostile to firearms so I don't have anything on my vehicles identifying me as a firearms owner.

If you want a serious answer you'll need to pose a coherent question.

    Night sights for SP-101

I have an XS Big Dot tritium front sight on a SP101 (2", DAO). I like it as I can acquire a sight picture quickly. Though with a Big Dot you give something up in sight picture refinement. But, with a snubby I don't care about that very much.

Is the JM S&W a performance center product?

There is such a thing as a Performance Center 625 with the Michulek style grips, 4"bbl, gold bead front sight. It say "Performance Center" on the bbl. One of 'em is sitting on my desk as I type this. It is a very nice gun. If you get one I suspect you'll like it just fine.

Hammer or No Hammer for compact CCW?

I much prefer hammerless for pocket carry and even for appendix carry. I'm not fond of shrouded hammers. When I owned one it always seemed to be a collection point for all manner of pocket lint. I never could figure how it got there since I always pocket carry in a holster. YMMV. Only if...

Thinking of buy a SP101; what should I have done?

Mine has a Big Dot sight. Action work by Grant Cunningham who also smoothed up the edges. I like the factory grips well enough to have kept them.

    .44 Special as a CCW?

I don't normally CC a 4" bbl revolver. Nevertheless, I note that my S&W 629-2 weighs in at 42.5 oz loaded whereas my S&W 686-1 2.5" bbl weighs 38 oz. Not too much weight difference. Shooting .44 spl in the 629-2 is quite pleasant.

    Positive LEO Experience (Traffic Stop)

Stopped for an utterly trivial motor vehicle infraction and subjected to a pat down after showing state documents indicating that your firearm possession is indeed lawful--that's a positive encounter?! Not by my standards.

    Stoeger Coach Gun?

I have a Stoeger coach gun with the better quality stock. It is a rather nice looking gun for the money. I installed a mercury recoil reducing tube and a tritium front bead. Even with the mercury tube the recoil is robust with full power 00 buck. For home defense you might want to consider using...

    Wife has trouble racking slide

There is the issue of chambering a round, then there is the issue of clearing the action in the event of malfunction. Someone may be able to chamber a round in a no pressure situation but not be able to clear the action under stress. For some, the reverse may be true. I'd advocate trying a...

    Shelf life of .22LR ??

I've heard that .22LR doesn't have a lengthy shelf life. However, I've fired .22LR ammo that was decades old without any problems. I'm not sure how this likely to be all that important. If you buy .22LR ammo in quantity you should shoot your oldest stock first and presumably your oldest...
