Visiting Pigeon Forge Tennessee area, any good gun shops besides Buds?

J Floyds Golf & Guns used to be worth a stop, but I haven't been in a few years so not sure about now.

What's your favorite 22 magnum cartridge in long gun?

The CCI/Fiocchi 40 grain soft point is death on groundhogs. While I also like the 30 grain V-max and 40 grain HPs, I would think the soft point would be a better option for coyote sized game.

So, I bought this 686 yesterday

Yes sir. Magnas and grip adapters fit my hand well, both on K and N frames.

So, I bought this 686 yesterday

I wished a company would make stocks just like this. I am not confident in my woodworking disability to butcher up an otherwise nice set.

Found my dad's CMP Garand paperwork - No Service or Rack grade wording.

This it appears: CMP SPECIAL: (EXCELLENT) CMP’s new grade of M1 Garand. This rifle consists of a new production stock and handguard set with CMP cartouche, a new production barrel and new web sling. Receiver and most other parts are refinished USGI, but some parts may be new manufacture...

    686-4 2.5" questions

How common are 2.5" 686-4s? I have ran across one for sale but can't find anything to determine if the asking price ($1150) is ok, high, or way high. Either not many were made, or they are being held onto due to be pre-MIM/lock/+.

    17hmr vs 22mag

I have been pleased with a WMR and CCI 40 grain CCI soft points on groundhogs, but I haven't shot any past 100 yds. I think it would have better terminal ballistics and less wind deflection than a HMR.

Getting frustrated with my CZ457 22 mag.

CZs seem to have a preference for 30 grain loads. Most people find acceptable to good accuracy with Hornady V-Max.

I can consistently shoot less than 1/2" one-shot groups at 300 yards with my Garand.

    Transporting A Pistol To N.C.

It's definitely open to officer interpretation. That is why many people I know that don't have a CHP put their handgun on the dash before the officer gets to the vehicle instead of leaving it in the seat.

    Transporting A Pistol To N.C.

To meet the letter of the law, the glove box, case or luggage would have to be locked.

    Transporting A Pistol To N.C.

Yeah, it either has to be locked up or in open plain view. In a gun case is not considered in open view.

    Transporting A Pistol To N.C.

IMO, without a valid CHP honored by NC, the handgun has to be either plainly visible or in a locked container or locked part of the car. If the case is in the passenger compartment and unlocked, it would be considered concealed and illegal. I would either have the case in the trunk or locked...

    Caps!!!

Welcome. I don't have personal experience with a Mag spark setup, but have read many positive comments on them, including being able to shoot BH209 successfully. Maybe someone with first hand knowledge can add to the comments.
