Guns in Norway or Sweden...rest of the world. Website?

Our self defence laws are quite good, or at least how they have been interpreted in the last 10-15 years. But you have no (legal) right to carry a weapon (inkluding knives) for defecive purposes in public. While it is legal to use your hunting gun for home protection, you can not write that on...

Guns in Norway or Sweden...rest of the world. Website?

This translation is "unofficial" and a new law is expected sometime before the winter but as of today this translation is correct. Norwegian firearm laws A short summary of Norwegian gun laws: To buy a gun you need a permit from the local police chief, and the general rule is that anyone who...

    Everyday preparedness

As for the 1.aid kit and training, I plan on/hope to keep the unlucky fellow alive for 30 minutes, then qualified personel will be there in 90% of the situations and locations I find myself in on a regular day. That means the neccecary equipment is not verry much, I have a heavy sciccor, (to...

    Everyday preparedness

Well, who said we was immune to that? And I don't think we will see suicide bombers screaming "alla akbar", our nanny state and all, people have it to good. They probably will use timed or remote controlled bombs in stead, history have showed them to be more popular in Europe anyway (ETA, IRA...

    Everyday preparedness

As (badly) written in my first post: Carrying any means of self defence is illegal here, hence the risk of arrest, prison, fines and the loss of any future legal possesion of firearms is very real if you decide to carry a gun for protection (against the law). Even the scissors in the first aid...

    Everyday preparedness

I do not carry a defensive weapon, as I don't find it to be of any significant benefit to me. Low crime, illegal (mostly, it is possible to find "creative" solutions), no tradition of beeing armed for protection (last 150 years at least) and the fact that most situations is best solved by...

    New caliber for my m98

It's nothing wrong with the 6.5x55, it's only a dull cartridge (here anyway). But it has a little recoil, great accuracy and fairly outstanding long-range capabilities. And would probably be the "best" logical choise for my rifle and my use, but as long as I don't like it, I don't like it...

    New caliber for my m98

all possible cleaning have been tried, and it worked "some" but not as much as i hoped for. Even got a gunsmith to secure the recoil-lug in epoxy/fiberglass, it to worked, but still not enough. As for shot out barrel, I have shot ~900 rounds with it and nobody knows how much it was used the 50+...

    New caliber for my m98

.30-06 is videly avileable here (mostly due to some 100.000 rebarreled m98's beeing sold by the army a few years back), and is among top 3 common rounds. It's not that I want a new caliber, I only want to consider the options before i use ~400€ on a barrel. Other options would be .308, but...

    New caliber for my m98

I have a m98 that already have seen two major changes. 1. Norwegian army, rebarreled to .30-06 in 1950's. and 2. (semi) professional reabuild to hunting rifle, new stock (with nice wood by the way) new 1/4 safety, reshaped bolt arm and scope mount and 4x30 scope (meopta) 8-10 years ago. So any...

Rhetoric question...why should machine guns be okay, but not nukes?

From the revolution viewpoint, who is ,as I understand, the driving force behind creating the 2nd. A, the meaningful arms for the people to keep will change with time. The Govt have nukes, aircraft, tanks, infantry, poison gas etc. and will always be stronger than You, the people, in material...

    Anti-Semitic terrorism in Norway

http://www.aftenposten.no/english/local/article1462108.ece [in english] http://oslopuls.no/nyheter/article1462234.ece [in norwegian] No one was killed or injured, and aperantly that was not the goal either, but it still sends a bad message. And this is just the last of a long list of smaller...

I got one more: Rolling Block shotgun, as far as I know nobody has made these for 50+ years. It's time for them to return.

    .50BMG Against Geneva Convention?

Have not been able to find any information of this in English :( , but 12,7 mm by itself is not "illegeal" in anny international law. What *might* be illegal is the Norwegian "Raufoss Multipurpose" amunition if used against personel. This ammunition is exploding and possibly in violation of the...

Fox News reports missing soldiers dead

I had written a long text, but "think twice, post once" stopped me. But it had to do with the words "final solution", "lebensraum", and what my grandfather told me about why he hated the german occupants.

What if deadly force is not required?

What about "Hey!, I have run away from stronger men than you!", or even better: buy him a beer. Appeasement only sucks if it does not work, and it can't be backed up with a credible back-up plan. Chamberlain would not have looked like a fool today, if UK had responded to the invation of Poland...

44mm cannon mount / recoil management

Mount it on a thick mahogny/teak beam that is securely bolted to the fiberglass. Then it will nicely ditribute the force, and if you use a rubber plate between plastic and wood it will be allowed to move rather than crack the fibers around the bolts. And bolt the beam to pats of the structure...

    Iran tests underwater missile

You don't have to sink them, it will be sufficient to demage/destroy rudder and/or propellers. (look at what happened to Bishmark). And a VLCC or ULCC will break apart under its own weight if you manage to flood the right (or wrong) ballast tanks if it is unloaded or emty the wrong cargo tanks...
