Pardon my ignorance, but what do you with the shim stock? Do you maybe make a V-shaped spring or U-channel spacer to keep the two stops pressed into the receiver?
Just throwing this out there. I enjoy motorcycles. Kerosene makes short work on greasy metal parts like chains. I've used it with success on receivers and internals gun parts taking care not to get it on wood or plastic. I believe WD-40 is largely aeriated kerosene.
Also, are there...
I got to take advantage of a beautiful Missouri Saturday yesterday and ran my new BPS. I had to blow a huge sigh of relief - not only did it perform flawlessly right out of the box but the action is snot-slick, it fits great and I like the 26" barrel. I really, really like shooting this gun...
One of the better articles floating around out there:

What is it that I don’t get about the Ithaca M37? I grew up carrying a 20-gauge version all over Kansas. It had feed issues, the machining is crude and the bluing is thin. I haven’t researched thoroughly but did Ithaca have financial problems starting in the 80's? That’s when my dad would have...
Specifically, yea, that's what I was referencing. Lots of YouTube's out there of shot and slugs vs walls and meat. Sheetrock doesn't appear to be much of an obstacle for slugs. I assume windows are going to be even more of a concern.
There is more information out there than I can read. The only consensus I see is that over penetration is an issue with slugs. There are guys who are fine with #7 birdshot while others will consider nothing less that 00 buckshot. I know the FBI used to use #4 buckshot. I haven't read anyone...
^I don't expect a problem with a new Browning but I'll cross that bridge if and once I come to it. Mossberg never diagnosed the problem, they just threw parts at it. The Mossberg is no longer in my ownership. I moved forward a long time ago. So should you.
Choosing a shotgun was a whole lot harder for me than a handgun because I have access to all sorts of indoor ranges with rentals of all major brands and models. Plus, I had things narrowed down to a 9mm and shot the G19 the best, which is what I wanted anyway. If Glock made field shotguns I'd...
^ Thank you for the suggestions on an O/U, clang and brewer. I've wanted one since I was a kid but price was always an issue. In the end I still like the versatility and cost effectiveness of a pump.
For the same price of a lower-end O/U from a Big Box I decided to go back to my local dealer...
Awesome info, plumberroy! Thanks again. I like the versatility of the 870 line, especially their barrel combo deals - I'd love to try blasting some feral hogs. I just want to make sure I'm getting one that works as advertised.
Thank you for the suggestion on the Pederson 4500, PabloJ. I'll...
^ Hey, thanks for the post, plumberroy. I found a YouTube on how to change the safety on an 870. Looks like no big deal. I like how it's behind the trigger - my old M37 is the same way. I also like how the slide release is on the left - it's on the right, in front of the trigger and out of reach...
Yet you work yourself up into enough of a lather and that you make hysterical rapid fire posts at 4:30 am. Oh, the irony.
You and your incorrect assumptions. My dad spent his career in manufacturing and production. My first decent job out of undergrad was manufacturing. Then I realized I...
Burs, incorrect tolerances - something is obviously way off and should have never got past Quality Control, if they even have such a department. Had I sent it back after running a broom handle wrapped in sandpaper down the barrel I would have been double screwed. What a freaking nightmare.
That's an incorrect assumption. All you had to do is ask. I'm here for information, not an e-argument.
My buddy had some old assorted name brand ammo he wanted rid of, including brass. It performed Less Bad, for lack of a better term. I'm not talking a little notchy, I'm talking it catches...
Grew up walking all over Kansas with a 20-gauge M37. My dad had a Ted Williams 12-gauge. That was a long time ago but I know how a properly functioning shotgun operates. This ain't one of them.
My shooting buddy - career military and LE - got the exact same FTE's as I did with the gun. The...
I know they're not the same gun, oneounce. That's the point. To use your analogy, the Winchester 1500 - the autoloader - is your 1911. The defective 500 - that has been with Mossberg for over a week - is your Glock or revolver. On the autoloader shotgun/1911 side you have firearms that can be...
