Go With The Best....
Candiru: Consider the .460 Rowland conversion ($275.00) from Clarke Custom Guns and read the article on real guns.com. I have one on a Kimber 1911. It’s one of my favorite guns. Everyone should have one. Accurate. Completely reliable. Not for the faint of heart. It’s like...
MagnaPort vs Comp
mljdeckard : I like the MagnaPort system and have it installed on several of my guns. Been using it for 30+ years (or for however long they have been in business) and love it, even on .22 pistols.
#1 The best deal is that it reduces muzzle flip and allows you to keep your...
Shut up and shoot
NavyJoe - I like that motto; wish I had thought of that.
I didn't know they were still making Wildcat ammo. Haven't seen any of that around lately. Did you buy that recently? I'm curious how they might compare with the Dynapoint, also put out by Winchester. I'll have to...
Golden Eagle Fodder
Gewehr98 – you’re going to let us in on how the Golden Eagle fodder turns out, right? Haven’t had much luck with the blue boxes marked “Target”. Beginning to think that’s just a marketing scheme. Even my Martini’s don’t group well with the Golden Eagle Target, which is...
Comparative Test?
P95Carry, you know, I’ve looked high and low (actually, I’ve only looked low) for some of the Fed Champion ammo and still haven’t found none yet. I’m hopin’ for a gun show in town this weekend and I know I’ll find some there. Really want to try some. ‘Course, if you’re gonna...
Dynapoint - Rim Thickness
I just completed grading a bulk box of 500 Dynapoint .22 long rifle ammo from Kmart for rim thickness. Thought some of you might find the results interesting if you’re into rim fires.
The first 20 or so out of the box were all .038 and I thought my gage was stuck...
Gewehr98 - RIM THICKNESS
Trying to put worms back in the can…. and, eating crow at the same time. I have to agree with Gewehr98 regarding the rim thickness. Earlier tests showed no promise, but since I had some rounds all ready grouped by headspace, I thought I’d give it another try.
I was...
Cartridge Photos
I’m thinking that a big part of the equation in this tool’s effectiveness is making the overall length of the cartridges uniform. Each bullet would have the same length to jump to the rifling and a better chance of having the same time up the barrel. So, one of the questions in...
New Can Of Worms....
Gewehr98 - Over the years, I think I have tried most/all of the commerically available models of rim thickness gauges, and have found little improvement in accuracy. I think Herter's or Sports,Inc sold a very simple one years ago that consisted of a narrow metal bar with...
Gewehr98 - thanks for the info. Looks interesting. I think that using one of those tuners could turn into a whole project by itself. But the results are promising. Thanks
harley
P95Carry – Sorry, I was away for a while. You kinda’ sent me off on a tangent, which I haven’t quite returned from yet. OAL vs. Weight vs. OAL of processed rounds. Still working on that one.
Those are much better results. If we were thinking a little better, that’s how we would have done it...
Okay, I'll Bite....
Gewehr98 - That's some pretty goood shooting in the wind. And, a nice setup with the rifle. What scope are you using there? Rings? Just curious - lookin' good! I just happen to be testing a Biathlon. Willing to try anything once, so where might one stumble across one of...
Too Neat
It's really a blast checking out everyone's reloading setups. It's like looking in someone's icebox, errr, refrigerator (as my daugther keeps correcting me) and seeing what kind of science experiments are stored there. I think these photos only have value if they're depicting what the...
A Real Beauty
P95Carry - thanks for the photo of the fly press! She's a real beauty. Norton's a good name to have, and no apology needed there. Thanks again for your effort. I'm envious. Someday, I'll pick one up....
I made the same mistake with my little test - not keeping track of the OAL...
while we're on the subject....
P95Carry, curiosity killed the cat...
Any chance you could post a picture of your fly press? Been looking for just the right one for years and it might have an application here, somewhat.

more photos - may be of interest
This is a little test I did with Paco's ACU'RZR tool. The two photos show the results of different forces applied to the tool using the arbor press and the dial indicator. The cartridges used are Remington Hi Speed, old stuff, and their OAL before processing...
Indexing Rounds
P95Carry, et al,
Years ago, L. E. Wilson in an advertiisment showed how a bullet that isn't perfectly aligned with the cartridge will shoot to a different impact point. Using a cartridge runout gauge, and marking the high side, you could then have these cartridges shoot...
More photos
Here's a photo of the index tool and remaining targets. Sorry about that.
edit: I forgot to mention, the numbers with the X behind them indicate that those rounds were indexed rounds. I think they show some improvment over the non indexed. What do you think?

Targets and larger photos
Thanks for all the help guys. Hopefully this is going to work.
Enclosed are larger photos of the tool setup.
Also, there's a closeup of the tool showing the index mark. The idea of the index mark is to orientate all the rounds the same way when they are...
