    Kimber vs Springfield

Very happy with my Kimber. Accurate and reliable. Looks like it's a tossup.

    Kahr wood grips

I have a K9, but I hesitated for a long time to go with a K40. The K9 comes with Hogue rubber grips, and although the recoil is manageable with the 9mm, I thought the small grip might be a bit unpleasant with the 40 S&W round. I recently bought a Kahr T40 in stainless with checkered wood...

    Sig P229 for CCW ??

I'm 6' 2" and 210#. I carry the SIG 229 in an OWB pancake holster with no problem. In Colorado, I typically dress for CCW with an outer jacket when it's cool, so concealment isn't much of an issue. I carry a SIG 239 in the summer when people are wearing lighter clothes, and I wear a lot...

Durabilty of Expoxy Finish CZ 75B?

I've found the epoxy finish on my CZ-75B to be pretty tough stuff. Much tougher than the finish on the stainless slide of my SIG 229 and as good or better than that of the matte finished Browing HP.

    Looking for single stack 9mm

The S&W 3913 or a variant seems to what I'm looking for. It's the right combination of cost, size, and it seems to have a few groupies who will vouch for its reliability. I am very happy with my SIG 239 and am amazed at its reliability and ease of accuracy for a relatively small pistol...

    Looking for single stack 9mm

I've shot the SIG P239 and Kahr K9, and am familiar with the polymer variations of the Kahr. Can anyone tell me about any other non-polymer frame single stack 9mm pistols that I ought to consider before buying?

STI Edge - Worth it, or not?

OK, so I had to check this out. While I was reloading some ammo tonight, I pulled out the caliper to compare the Kimber and the Edge. The Kimber slide measured 0.910" thick, while the Edge measured 0.928". It doesn't seem like much, but it's enough to keep the Edge from fitting into my...

STI Edge - Worth it, or not?

Commander, The Edge has an extended magwell for quick mag changes in competition. It adds a lot of width to the base of the grip. Also the double stack 40 grip seems a lot wider than that of my single stack Kimber, although I'll defer to your assertion if you've actually measured it. e

    P99 / P229, Quality in the name

I can't believe that one would store better than the other. Either's steel internals would rust if not properly stored. I don't think there would be any problem with extended storage, as long as the gun is cleaned, oiled, and kept from moisture and humidity. Seal it in a heavy...

STI Edge - Worth it, or not?

I've been shooting IPSC with an STI Edge for about 3 years. I don't shoot tournaments, but I shoot with the local clubs several times a year. The Edge has a great trigger, is very reliable, and plenty accurate with WinWB 180 gr. loads. I've had 0 (zero, zip, nada) problems with FTEs or...

    P99 / P229, Quality in the name

I have both and have carried both. Both are accurate and dependable. The SIG is more pleasant to shoot for practice. The only problem I have with the Walther is that stupid hump under the trigger on the guard. I guess I could file it down if it bothered me much. I find that the P-99...

To HP or not to HP

HP triggers right out-of-the-box are probably some of the worst on the market. Heavy and gritty. Removing the mag safety helped a lot, but it really took a good gunsmith (Sandy Garrett in Springfield, VA) to make it right. Now my HP 40 cal. is my second favorite 40 (next to an STI Edge that...

Howcome The Browning Hi-Power Has Earned Very Little Respect Here At THR~?

My HP 40 cal is my favorite 40 cal pistol (next to the STI Edge, of course) now that I've had that horrible out of the box trigger fixed. Ergonomic, accurate, very manageable recoil for an otherwise snappy round. My 9mm HP is quite accurate with the right load, but fussier than my CZ-85...

    Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle

I've got a Mini 14 with a stainless barrel. I wouldn't recommend it for target shooting. After its light barrel heats up, six shots or so, the point of impact starts to wander around the target. Trying to sight in a scope for this rifle is a real frustrating experince. That said, I've...

    QRW rings on FAL?

I mounted a Burris 3x9x32 Short Mag scope on my DSA mount using their Burris medium QD rings. It cleared the mount OK, but doesn't clear the rear sight. Fortunately, I can mount it right in front of the sight and the eye relief is good.

    Question about AK windage adjustment.

Thank you. That's exactly what I was looking for.

    Question about AK windage adjustment.

I recently bought a Yugo AK underfolder and attempted to sight it in. I've adjusted the windage as far as possible by moving the front sight post, but I'm still not quite on target. Does anyone know if the barrel can be rotated in the receiver, or the front sight rotated on the barrel to...

    Which of these for IDPA?

I've tried a number of pistols for IPSC and Action Pistol shooting. I settled on the Browning, although I shoot it in 40 cal., and I had the trigger improved considerably. It's much easer to shoot single action rather than double action (as with the SIG) on that first shot.

    Powder for the .223.

I have a Bushmaster Dissipator 16" barrel with (I think) a 1 in 9 twist. I've had good luck with 21.5 gr. of Reloder 7 and 55 grain bullets. Since it burns quickly, it gives me velocities in the 2900 fps range and good accuracy with the short barrel.
