    Old (1950's?) TV show question

Getting back to guns ...how many among us recall our first "firearm" as a toy carried in a western style holster -- all inspired by a TV show? I miss having regular western TV shows.

    1911-A1 SLIDE AND CALIBER SWITCH

It's always a shame to lose anyone from our community, and that he had such taste in firearms tells me that he woulda been a good one to know. Like was mentioned above, stipulate that the whole rig stays together, since that's how it was intended. And post pictures of the thing for cryin' out...

    1911-A1 SLIDE AND CALIBER SWITCH

Great looking Colt -- I always liked the original profile over the so-called "enhanced" version.

    1911-A1 SLIDE AND CALIBER SWITCH

Yup, sorry about that detail -- all three barrels are ramped and fitted to this frame. There is no doubt that the work was done by a professional, and late yesterday we found paperwork on a 45 barrel wrapping that listed a gunsmith called Big Bore Custom in nearby Phoenix. We got all excited...

    1911-A1 SLIDE AND CALIBER SWITCH

I am currently helping with a large inventory of items left behind by a wonderful old man who had been an avid shooter, fisherman, explorer and conservationist his entire life. He had been doing well until claimed by the <edited> virus at age 88. Within his collection is a full frame...

    45 colt or 44 magnum

For him it was likely an idle comment ...I was helping him haul equipment and passing through his reloading area, spotted boxes of 45 he'd been working on. He said "flying ashtray," which confused me, so he explained "...you know, big and heavy like an ashtray." I said, well how about the 44...

    YAY! and OY! gun purchases.

I can drive tacks with the sweet-looking .22 with the box, a gift when I was first learning how to shoot. By way of contrast, on a good day I can likely hit a barn with the P-22 below, unless it jams, and this is the first and last firearm I will ever own that is made from the new metal. Right...

    45 colt or 44 magnum

I have two Anacondas with the eight inch tube, 45 and 44. I have a great time with both. I had a neighbor who reloaded with us for years, a WWII vet who told me in his day, because the 45LC lacked 44 velocities, they called it the "flying ashtray" ...always made me smile. Anyone ever hear that?

    Twitchy Situation Near Private Range

Well this didn't take long ...several road cameras, including our own, contained images of the car, tags, driver, etc. The detectives from property crime started with the driver (high school student 17 years) then interviewed his kid brother 15 years ...and they have the names of all the little...

    Twitchy Situation Near Private Range

Why did the cows cross the road? Yup, exactly what I thought, I know this one. That was Wednesday morning and my youngest had walked the dogs while I was just getting from the sack. She found me in the kitchen and popped her question, then gave me a look like ...you really are the slow one...

Building a back stop part I

Hey ...great work ...we started just as you have and built a terraced system adding railroad ties as "keepers" and "reinforcements" of our mounds by using a kind of log cabin system. For the end cuts we just nibbled a fit with chain saws, then mounted in place. We found our poles and railroad...

    Do you remember

These shows are hugely entertaining ...this one begins with peanut butter being only 60 seconds old when you open the jar? Well okay then. I've been watching on youtube since this first posted, sadly later generations didn't have such great Saturday morning TV, I feel robbed. Sky King looks...

    Walmart stopped selling all ammo.

Yup, lots of ammo, with a limited number of firearms as well. The next time I pass through I should take a few pics, shooters back east might find it amusing, but here it isn't uncommon ...this one is just a bigger store with a bigger supply and two owners who are big in the shooting sports.
