Steel Cased ammo bad in an AR? Pshaw.

If your AR won't shoot steel-cased ammo, put a skirt on it.:evil:

    AR .22lr conversion use

I shot this group with a Spikes upper, from a bag rest, using Wally Mart bulk Federal ammo. I would think the bbl upgrade would do much better. Sorry, for some reason the .jpg didn't come up in this msg. The ten shot group was under 2" at 50 yds

    OK, I'm getting a 7.62x39 AR

I've had my Model 1 7.62x39 Upper for nearly two years and I'm very happy with it. Early on, they tried to make it run with a standard AR bolt and the firing pin didn't detonate the hard Russian primers reliably. Some folks modified their firing pins, but I chose to buy the MGI Enhanced Bolt for...

    Coyote Rifle

I agree, the 7.62x39 is a great round for yotes. I picked up a 7.62x39 upper for my AR a couple of years ago and it works great on those buggers.

Differences in Colt AR's ....6920 or Match Target Competition...

I have the Bushmaster DCM XR and I like the way it handles and performs at CMP shoot.

    S&W Model 52 Master

Had one back in 67, tried using it for the centerfire but just couldn't get it to feed reliably. Added to that, the wadcutters that were around just couldn't match the accuracy of the .45 wadcutters. I tried the bullet casting and home brewed ammo. I tried everything but putting on a robe with...

What about Wolf Military Classic .223?

This has been posted many times, but it bears repeating: Most ARs can handle the steel cased ammo without problems, but you need to get a chamber brush and keep that chamber clean. Since steel cased ammo doesn't expand as fully as brass, you can get a lot of carbon blow by which will build up...

Is my AR15's inability to cycle steel cases caused by its extractor?

Steel cased ammo doesn't expand as fully, so there is a lot of carbon blow by that sticks to the chamber walls. If you fire some brass cased ammo after shooting the steel cased stuff you can see the carbon streaks on the brass case. Solution: Use your chamber brush regularly and you'll have...

    Kimber 82

The "Rusty" Kimber 82Gs are the best deal going in the match .22 world. My Anschutz runs only slightly better, but at nearly three times the price. The group below shows what the 82G can do with the cheap Mexican/Eley Sport ammo.

    Kimber 82

I've had mine for a couple of months now, best 400.00 I ever spent. Mine can do close to a 1/4 inch at 50yds with the Eley Tenex. What really surprised me was how well it did with the budget Eley Sport (purple box) that's made in Mexico. This is with iron sights on a A23 target.

What's this marking on my M1 Carbine?

Can you give me the complete author and title of the "Duff Book" so I can find it. Many thanks...

What's this marking on my M1 Carbine?

Can anyone identify this marking in the sling well of my Inland M1 Carbine? It's an early rifle with a barrel date of 7-1942 and a ser. no. of 81XX. Sorry about photo quality, but it's the best I could do with my camera.

    Bushmaster Predator short stroking

My Bushy DCM XR has the same problem with the steel cased stuff. IMHO, match/tighter chambers are indeed the problem. Basically, it's carbon buildup in the chamber from the steel cased ammo not expanding sufficiently. You can use a chamber brush, but in a few rds. the problem will start again

    Aguila .22lr Match Rifle Review

It could be just my rifles, but my 452s (Trainer & UL) like the Aguila Target (Blue Box) way better than the Black & Gold box (and I'm Steelers fan too.)

    AR-15 7.62x39 build

Ditto on the Model 1 Upper and the MGI Enhanced Bolt. I've run a couple of thousand rounds of the variious animal brands of ammo with no problems. You do have to use a good chamber brush to keep the carbon from building up. The Brown Bear stuff seems to be the most accurate of all the steel...

Russian Teenager Designs Noiseless Electric Rifle

Nothing new here... As a child, over 60 years ago, one of my favorite books was "Tom Swift and His Electric Rifle." I suspect this account is equally plausible.

    Spikes Tactical .22 conversion

I run a Spike's unit in my 1 in 9 AR. Accuracy with regular 22Lr ammo is marginal, however, when I tried the 60gr Aguila 22LRs my accuracy really improved.
