That's pretty much it right there. IMO, you don't buy a Glock to have fun at the range. It's a combat gun. If you ever really need to use it for what you bought it for, the trigger pull will be the last thing on your mind.

That statement is true, but OTOH, I bought a CZ rifle from Whittaker's without ever setting foot in the state of Kentucky. Most local operations are also selling online these days. Whether they can keep up with the big boys (Bud's, etc.) is another question.

Makes sense to me. The Makarov round is only marginally bigger than .380 ACP, but 12+1 in a pistol that is easy to shoot accurately beats 6+1 in a pocket mini.

I shoot a lot of .22, and IMO it is more reliable than its reputation. I shoot a couple of hundred rounds a week in practice and competition, and I can't remember when I last had a misfire. I'm not using the cheapest ammo, but I'm not using the most expensive either.

That's what you mostly find at my club too. I shoot in a .22 rifle league, and if I drop a round on the floor during a match, it goes in the bucket. Most .22 target ammo is heavily lubed and will easily pick up a lot of grit from the floor. I'm not putting that crap in one of my better rifles...

I think that's the key. It depends on if you want a decent rifle at a decent price or an excellent rifle that is part of American history. It's a different market segment.
